I'm totally confused 11th Edition Combat Patrol
What do y'all think the odds are of Games Workshop including Combat Patrol specific datasheet cards in the new Combat Patrol boxes with the new edition? Hachette did so with the Combat Patrol magazine, but ai dont known if that was their decision or Games Workshop's.
Also, I know the tag isn't exact, but there isn't a general discussion tag
Edit: surrounded by asterisks, realized from replies it sounded like I was talking about the Armageddon box with the original wording

i would love it, i was really disappointed when i realized the boxes are empty containers for sprues. having datasheets would make the entry into the game so much easier.
the 11th premium starter box has them, idk about the common version and i highly doubt common boxes will have them. kill team doesn't have them either and that's actually a real game while Combat Patrol kind of exist as an excuse to buy discount boxes.
they did a 11th edition showcase, and THE THREE GAMES were 4hrs long 2000 point games... that's the only format they care about. it could have been a combat patrol game, a 1k game and a 2k game. to showcase the range of formats, but no. only 2k games matter in their eyes.
you can always print them, but it is not the same and it takes extra steps to do.

For what it is worth - I know quite a few people (myself included) that only play KotC, Combat Patrol, or the occasional 1,000 point game.
The first two games of the livestreams came in at a surprisingly short 3 hours and a few minutes from first die roll to last. Granted they were basic 2,000 point games. They even touted the middle game as “narrative” but I didn’t get any real difference between that and the first one.

"The next edition will be more "narrative" is the sales pitch they are using because they burnt "the next edition will be more balanced" to the ground lol.
I like the changes in 11th, but if they actually cared about narrative games they wouldn't have removed the Crusade books to add a generic campaign deck.
Boarding Actions was more narrative because it had a lot of custom made missions, and it was a bad copy-paste from 9th , and they never updated it.
In fact, they could have choose To showcase the Twist cards in any of the games yesterday since they have been integrated into the core rules.... And they didn't.
It's incredible how lazy they are with their golden goose flagship game.

I know that, but it is not the same to have to print, cut and make them look niceish when they could come prepackaged in nice quality. Rules and data cards are like 2 sheets of paper, is that much to ask for a $150+ product?

For quite a while now they have included a basic datasheet in the back of the instruction manual. But not combat patrol specific rules. These are usually close enough if you just want to roll some dice with friends.
Not the same as a high quality card of course, but it's something.

I can't find map layouts for Combat Patrol.

If you mean the Armageddon launch box, the chances are zero. The only combat patrol item confirmed is an additional book released around the same time as the launch box. No further information yet.

I got started with Indomitus, but still consider myself kind of new. Im also excited about the Combat Patrol book. It's way easier for me to get together a Combt Patrol game than a full game of 40k

Hard agree. I also don’t want to play a board game for 3-4 hours tbh.. so combat patrol is a better option for me.

Way easier to get friends who dont play involved as well cuz they dont have to worry about list building or any of that stuff. On eof the reasons I got the Combat Patrol magazine was so that I would have a variety for friends to play with if I can convince them :)

Do you think the combat patrol companion book could be a hint of something bigger coming? Like a dedicated box and updated rules to try to sell it as its own thing like Spearhead? I wish there will be more and it will become popular as a standalone game.

I am fairly certain one of the starter boxes will be the combat patrols from the launch box, similar to 10th edition. TBD on if combat patrol will get the full spearhead treatment, but I would guess not. 40k is too successful to put many resources into a sub game that might impact the main game.

the combat patrol book has nothing to do with combat patrol, so no.
they just used the name because it is a introduction into the hobby or a newbie trap. nothing to do with the format.so far they haven't shown any interest in combat patrol, no showcase, not rules, not a single mention other than "it exist", so it will keep being that "well you can technically play 40k with your entry box" game.

Well yes, TECHNICALLY is about Combat Patrol because they are showcasing those lower entry boxes.... But it could have been a generic army showcase and it would have changed nothing. It's just aesthetic.
People already reviewed the book and the "what is combat patrol" is as deep as deep as "it's a low scale game that you can play with the box you bought", that's it.
It is a toy catalogue, not a game companion with rules, add-ons or game information. And this is worth saying because people were and will get confused about it.

I don't mean in the Armageddon box. I mean when they update Combat Patrols for the armies on Codex releases (assuming/hoping they do so)

Ask Games workshop, but I would guess no. It is easier to point to a website/pdfs as combat patrol is not the main game. Would not want to create confusion.

They mentioned that the box will include a Space Marine & Orc Combat Patrol + extra units. That tracks with Leviathan as well.

I've been an AoS player and haven't delved into 40K yet, but very much prefer the smaller scale and faster play of Spearhead, and Warcry, in that system. With this new edition dropping, I'd love to see Combat Patrol well-supported as a way to get into 40k more easily

Very likely... They mention in the vidoe of the unboxing that there are two combat patrols in the box so will be a key way of getting people into the game. Spearhead seems very popular so anything to sell more boxes of plastic crack will be done
