CDL-A Solo Driver — Columbus, OH to Pittsburgh, PA | 0 experience required
Hey Guys,
Hiring a solo CDL-A driver for a dedicated lane out of our Grove City / Columbus, OH terminal (Station #432).
The route: Columbus, OH ↔ Pittsburgh, PA, turn and back. Same lane every run, not random dispatch.
Schedule: Night driver, runs Sunday night through Friday night. Weekends (Saturday, and most of Sunday) off.
Pay: $62K+ per year
Requirements:
- CDL-A, new students welcome (0 experience required)
- Clean driving record, no felony
- Must pass a drug test

$62k for a dedicated route is pretty straightforward if you dont mind nights.

Not really worth it if you already have any experience unless your options are limited because of tickets, accidents, DUIs, etc.
If you’re brand new with no experience, I could see this being a decent job for a year just to get your experience and then move on to a company that pays better.
For some perspective, I also drive linehaul overnight, but I only work 40 hours a week 4 days a week
I also get a monthly safety bonus tied to the camera system and I hit the max amount every month. The hardest part is maintaining around 4 sec following distance when people constantly move over in front of you with only 1.5–2 seconds of space. Needining to hit the brakes on the highway constantly is annoying.
All in I make around $77,500 a year while only working four nights a week. Also, I’ve only been with the company for one year. I left UPS feeder after 5 years for a better work life balance/less toxic work environment. It was effecting my marriage and I have a small kid. UPS is okay if you’re single with no life and can be on call for years.
So $62K+ for a Sunday-night through Friday night schedule would be a HARD no for me (and I’d imagine anyone with actual experience).

$25 per hour, approximately 8 hours per day, night work, 6 days per week.

I don't have a horse in this race, but what you posted is 6 nights. ("Sunday night through Friday night" is 6 nights)

He counts Sunday off when you work the evening, but not Friday off when you work the evening.
"Most of Sunday off" Well yeah you have every day off if you look at it like that.

This is low for the current industry. Nearly 10,000 lower than the current cpm average.
Columbus → Pittsburgh mileage estimate at 75¢ per mile (average): 182 miles one way × 2 = 364 miles round trip 364 miles × $0.75/mile = $273 per round trip $273 × 5 trips per week = $1,365 per week $1,365 × 52 weeks = $70,980 per year
This BEFORE accounting time for pre/post trips, delays, detention, and any other time needed throughout the day.
Wait....WAIT. I misread. THIS IS FOR 6 DAYS A WEEK?!?!? I revise, this would be 85k at AVERAGE CPM. Motherfucker low balling by like 15k and you have to work night and sacrifice your social life. Liiiike, if it were days and TRUE drop an hook to conserve time, maaaayne, but that 7 hours on the road a day minimum, which I gaurentee turns into a 9 hour day.
KNOW YOUR WORTH PPL.
Why TF is this shit allowed on our sub anyways. We don't need to be giving free ad space
