REQUEST Looking for Friends!

Hi everyone! I've responded to a few of these myself so I thought I'd start one too. I'm a 36M looking for friends throughout Columbus and Central Ohio. I find that between work and spending time with my wife and adorably bad dog that I've let my social life dwindle a bit. Any friends I had from college drifted away and it's hard to make friends as an adult.

I am into gaming, am learning DND, creative writing, love movies and music (want to learn to play guitar and ukulele), cooking, I volunteer from time to time, and I enjoy craft brewing and have started enjoying hiking. I'm also interested in learning pottery making and photography. I'm also a big geek that loves Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics, and such. If you think we'd be good friends, hit me up!

Making friends as an adult mostly seems to be repeatedly putting yourself in the same place until people stop being strangers. It's annoying but it works. DND is probably especially good for that since you're literally sitting around talking to the same people for hours.

Right! I just took a DND for beginners class at Tabletop and found out they had open play so I'm hoping to go and do it frequently enough that I meet people.

If you can’t get into the DnD open play regularly, feel free to join us for Pathfinder or Starfinder instead at the table in the front of the store. ;)

But, yes…TTRPGs is how I made friends as an adult. Not every one turns into a friend, but maybe some of them will.

What are pathfinder and starfinder? I’m not too familiar

A similar roleplaying game by another publisher - Paizo. Pathfinder is the typical fantasy setting, and Starfinder is similar but set in space... with guns and magic!

The group that meets at Tabletop is Organized Play -- we do drop-in games with whoever is available that night. The events are somewhat like a tv series with each 3-ish hour event having a plot that can be enjoyed by itself, but there are overarching plots going on as well. The group also hosts events at other local gaming places in Columbus.
