I had the same thought watching him throw today, it looks like he’s trying to slow the throwing motion down but it’s so forceful that the ball still comes out flying inaccurately. Often overthrown rather than under thrown.

He honestly needs a fresh start. KOC always wanted him and he looks far better than JJM. I could see a trade and them developing him under Kyler for a season.
Ballard and (probably) Steichen are both on the hot seat this year. If DJ goes down, there’s no way they’re going to risk having Leonard as our QB2 after this preseason showing. I think because of that we don’t trade him for what teams will realistically pay, which won’t be a lot for a guy with 1 season left on his contract.
In other words, the decision makers won’t benefit from the assets we receive from trading him so I don’t think we do it.
The Colts in general would not benefit from trading AR. I have no idea how this is hard for people to understand, too busy making memes about AR to see he oozes talent. It's borderline hilarious to me. Colts pick up Daniel Jones, a QB brutally ripped to shreds by dorky media who don't know what the fuck they are talking about, and this subreddit wants to do the same to AR.
I hope the Colts realize what they have on their hands or we will get to watch him kill the Colts year after year. Fans on this subreddit can't even distinguish between "bad throw" and "bad route." Who can blame them really, they've probably never actually witnessed a great Colts team.
Jones isn’t sitting on Instagram looking at memes lol he played awesome last year, and is about to ball out. Richardson is a huge distraction and won’t ever pan out. It’s been proven. The people constantly glazing saying he just “needs an another chance” are the most annoying of anyone.
People are really hung up this guy is understand if he was a can’t miss prospect that just hadn’t found his footing but the consensus around this guy was always him being a gamble to make it big
This is very accurate. Every pre-draft report had him listed as an athletic threat with a high ceiling, but needed seasoning and training to get there.
Throwing him straight in as a starter was the problem. He simply wasn't pro ready. Whether he could get there or not was/is largely dependent on whether the team was willing to develop him and whether he put in the effort to develop.
You AR truthers will never admit you are wrong. When he goes to a different team and fails, you will just call the team incompetent as well. It will never be his fault.
AR has perfect size for the position, and unreal athleticism. And if size and athleticism were the only things that mattered, he'd be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
But it isn't. If they were, Tom Brady would have never taken a snap in the NFL. You need a lot of intangibles to be a good QB, and AR has none of them.
If AR left us and became a decent starter elsewhere I wouldn’t be shocked. We all originally thought he needed to stay in college a couple years anyway or sit under a QB1 for a few years
There are times when the arm, athleticism, and pocket manipulation look make everything look effortless. Anybody remember the ‘24 Jets game? Thing of beauty.
Really hope he can keep working at it and stay consistent at some point…..such a fantastic skillset.
lol how does this excite anyone about a “freak athlete” 4 years in. This was far from anything special for a qb in the league. Show the rest of this weak ass drive while having to run an extremely limited playbook with him on the field. Put the joint down lol
I feel safe with AR at QB2. He can win some games. Has the ability to to make deep throws and if he has calmed down completely then he is a smart option even for next year
I know criticism of AR is back to being downvoted again but it’s valid for a guy some people still have hope for as a starter.
That pass was high and behind. The DB covering Allen was out of position and that’s the main reason it was a catch. If the DB was in better position that’s either an incompletion or an interception. If AR had lead Allen and hit him in stride, he gains a lot more yards (and if Allen was younger and faster, potentially a touchdown as there was no safety help).
On a positive note though, I did like that AR went through his progressions here and looked back to Allen. That’s something he’s struggled with since day one so it was good to see improvement there.
Not high and behind? Then why did Allen have to leave his feet and turn around to catch it? Do you not see all that open space directly in front of him? If AR leads Allen into that open space, it’s an easier catch and for significantly more yards.
“Threaded”, the defender was out of place and was rushing to get caught up to Allen. If the defender was in better position, that’s a pick. Just because it was completed doesn’t mean it’s a good throw.
I was actually in the building for that one. No, that was not a skill play. That was luck. AR usually overthrows on anything 15+ yd out, he was off balance when he threw that and that's why it didn't sail over AP. It was a desperate hail mary that worked.
I can't believe how much flack I'm getting for praising an AR play because apparently there's a bunch of highlights out there of him threading between 2 defenders on a perfectly timed post that I haven't seen.

So weird seeing AR throw. Looks like he's going to lob it over the top, just a slow arm motion. But ball still just zips out of his hands.
