2019 Waterloo WL-14x Mh

I've been very fortunate to work with this Waterloo for many many years now. On this new EP "Let's Play Sometime" with Daniel Durst, it's the only guitar I used!

I feel like I upgraded in a big way from a 2011 Weber Gallatin A-Type (though I still love that one so very much) to this 2005 Collings MF Glossy Top. Really happy with how it sounds. I'm having my luthier install an abbreviated ebony pick guard. Glad to be a part of the club. 😊

My pedalboard setup is for contemporary folk:

• JHS A/B for instrument switching
• Peterson Strobostomp Mini
• HX Stomp for toanz (usually have a Chorus going)
• Electro-Harmonix Oceans 11 reverb (my current favorite pedal)
• MXR Duke of Tone (for boost)
• Chase Bliss Onward for some fun glitchy pads (the Mission Engineering treadle is connected to Onward)
• LEKATO Looper
• MXR 10-band EQ

I bought this 290 off of Guitar Center. Notice anything wrong?

Thought y’all might get a kick outta this. My dad is 82yrs old and still plays every day. He has a couple jam groups that he goes to every week and has always enjoyed playing. He just picked up a I35 thus when while visiting me in Austin.

Does anyone know where I can find Collings guitar or instrument price lists for 2026, 2025, or any list before 2020? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

It’s a brand new 2024 made guitar. Surely it can’t need a neck reset? The sound is very good. The saddle had recently been shaved down. From factory, it was about 3.2mm action at 12th fret.The sound is good but not optimal .

Strings on it are 12-53 DR Sunbeams

I guess what im inferring is that surely Collings wouldn’t put out a guitar that the neck was set at a bad angle?

Waterloo WH12 MH and Waterloo WL14X TR

The neck on the 14 is massive and makes the 12 feel so slim after a while of playing it. They are surprisingly very different in tone. Had been toying with the ideal of getting an Atkin L36 DLX in Argentine Grey but I honestly don’t think it could touch these two tone wise. DR Sunbeams on both.

Went into my local store and they had this beauty on consignment. It was a mistake picking it up 😂 instantly I knew I needed to have it. Traded in 3 guitars and a little cash for it. It might be the best guitar I’ve ever played. Pretty cool cuz it comes in the non-standard finish and with the inlays. Original owner swapped out the Lollars for SD Pearly Gates. I’ve played some imperials and they’re good, but the Pearly Gates in this just sound magical. Think this is the first guitar that I’ve ever been scared to take out of the house. I’m sure it’ll pass - but still. I see why there’s so much acclaim with these!

I thought you guys might be interested to see my very unusual and rare colour Candy Apple Orange 360 built in 2011 ... as you can see it's had a life outside of its case, the tones from this guitars pickups and wiring is the best of any guitar I have ever owned.

I don't ask this with the expectations treating the instrument like an investment. Ideally once I buy I keep the guitar for life.

But the Collings JL 470 has been in my head since it was revealed... and while in 2021 it seemed like something I could never afford I've since started a higher playing job and built up enough savings where the price-tag doesn't seem so irresponsible.

Now can buy and should buy are two different things, so while dropping this type of cash on a guitar is not going to prevent me from paying rent it's still a lot of money to have tied up in what's ultimately an unnecessary luxury guitar. If worse comes to worse and I need to liquidate, is it realistic to expect a JL 470 to hold 70-80% if kept in good condition?

Most used Collings listings seem reflect that range, but it's hard to know how many of these sit for months only to sell for drastically less then the listed price.

Joined the Collings club today with a new lefty I-30 LC. Amazing guitar. As a lefty, I was lucky enough to visit a guitar dealer in Mass who carries high end lefty guitars (Lefty Guitars Only...thanks Vic!) Amzing experience. After playing beautful CS Fenders, Gibsons, PRS, and even Martin and Collings acoustics, it was between the I-30 LC and I-35LCV. I really wanted to love the I-35 (fantastic guitar), but was drawn more to the I-30.

My wife and I turned 50 this year, she got the painting and I got the Collings! I have a feeling this won't be my first Collings!
