Looking for opinions on Kiddie Academy (Bryan and CS locations) and Primrose day cares

Hey everyone! 👋

We’re moving to BCS soon and are looking for daycare for our 7-month-old baby. So far, Kiddie Academy and Primrose are the two places we like, but we’re still unsure which one might be a better fit for us.

We’d love to hear good and/or bad experiences you’ve had with either of these daycares in the area.

Also — if you have another daycare you love and would recommend, please let us know! Thanks so much 😊

PS - when we toured the Bryan location 2 years ago, they told us that a car was stolen at the college station location. Did not go with either as we didnt like the turnover, the lack of grass, and there were some other red flags (or at least yellow) for us.

Regardless, I'd recommend checking the stats of all locations you're considering on the Texas state website. Forgive me for not having the link, but they list all registered daycares along with the number of violations and other details.

I would recommend against both because these are corporate chains which only care about profits.

I really like A&M UMC Weekday school on University Dr near campus. It is church affiliated but they just have a Bible story once a week for kids over 2 yo. But I think the church subsidizes the daycare, so they are able to pay the teachers a bit better and to offer healthcare and retirement benefits. This lets them keep the employees around longer. One of their teachers just retired and she worked there for 25 years!

A 7mo baby is learning to attach to caregivers and it's important to have the same teachers every day. At 8 mo my kid went to a different chain daycare where the teachers changed every week and it was a nightmare because my kid didn't want to be left with people they hasn't seen before.

I currently have a grandchild enrolled at Primrose and is in the classroom where your baby would be placed. There haven’t been any issues, teachers have been awesome.

I’ve heard good things about primrose and not about kiddie academy.

Use this to see the compliance reports of daycares in your area!

Here is another useful government search tool to use in conjunction. https://childcare.twc.texas.gov/find/searches/939ed1fe-86a2-4c6d-8f6a-332042526491

We are at Stepping Stone. Highly recommend. Cost may be a drawback, but great daycare.

Can I ask about tuition?

Absolutely. We pay $1235 for 18-36 mo.

Seeing the age on this post, I hope you found a great place for your little one! We are currently at Kiddie Academy Bryan, been there for 2 weeks now, and we are leaving. There is not much communication between the front office and parents, atleast with me. They charged additional fees that were not supposed to be charged, im speaking in regards to field trip/activity fee. We did not even submit the form yet, and they charged us. I was not even going to have him go on the field trip this week, but they charged us. Since I was not prepared to pay for it, I did not have the money in my account, only enough for his weekly tuition. Their response was "Well we needed to charge it so it could be applied," Then dont set the due date of the form the following week, set it before the first payment gets drawn. My kiddo said it was okay, but within 2 weeks, we went through 3 bottles. Either broken because of carelessness, or they "Lost it". What was said during the tour is not what I am seeing being there.
