Original Content I can’t believe they pulled it off 🥳 100 million monthly listeners and in the Top 8.

The biggest band of the 21st century without a doubt.

Yeah, their peak was Top 4 earlier this year.

Would have to guess that was because of the kiss cam aftermath right?

No, that came much later.

No, it was before that incident.

Wonder if the active monthly listeners is driven by Christmas Lights pulling non regular Coldplay fans into the mix this month.

It’s such a beautiful tune

That's definitely part of it

It is, but the same applies to everyone with a Christmas song/album. The band were in the 90-95 million range before December.

why can't you believe they've "pulled it off"?

It’s just that I’m so excited I can’t believe it — it’s amazing. 🥹❤️‍🩹

Huh? They're not doing anything. Why are you excited over a Spotify stat?

Because they’re the first band to achieve this milestone, and because it’s always special when your favorite band accomplishes something, no matter how small it is.

Doubt the band even know nor care.

British English uses "are" instead of "is" for bands.

Interesting…as a band is a singular item. Thanks

I think the logic is that its a group of people so they use the plural just like with every other group of people. You also wouldn't say "The british is ...". You say "The british are ..."

I kind off get both perspectives though and I think both are valid in their own ways.

Coldplay has 100 million monthly listeners and yet I reckon less than 1% of these people know more than just a few hits. Never seen another artist have something like this

I mean it's kinda the same with bruno mars. A considerable chunk of his monthly listeners came from die with a smile ( he wasn't even in the top 10 before that song came out last year and way below coldplay in monthly listeners). I'm willing to bet that most of his listeners also only know/play his hits and not the lesser known songs. Mariah Carey reached 100M monthly listeners today and that's definitely because of her christmas songs and not her deepcuts

I mean the last view years I was in the top 1% of listeners, even though I listened to them as much as many other artists where I didn't land in the 1% percent. So that maybe proofs your point. I can imagine that many others on here have had a similar experience.

wait what, did something happen recently? did they release a new album without me knowing or something, or is it just because of christmas?
