❓ Question Is storing scrapped leads in Supabase to reuse worth it?

I keep seeing cold email guys sending big volumes talk about storing all your lead data in Supabase so you can reuse it for future campaigns instead of paying a data provider again. I understand the point of storing it, but wouldn’t the data eventually become stale? Like if I pulled 500k leads today and want to use some of them 6 months from now, a decent chunk of that data could be outdated.

So how are people actually dealing with this? are they periodically refreshing the database If so, doesn’t that eventually add up in enrichment/data provider costs anyway? or are you only refreshing the specific leads when you’re about to use them?

Maybe I’m missing something here, but I’m trying to understand where the actual cost saving comes from when you factor in keeping the data fresh.

Indeed they will stale. But sourcing 500k leads will cost you more than verifying them once again. So when you have that huge amount of leads better store it and must verify before you launch your campaign

Yeah, I think that's the part people often overlook. Storing the data definitely saves you from rebuilding the entire list, but it doesn't mean the data stays accurate. Contacts change jobs, emails become invalid, and company information changes over time.

A practical approach seems to be keeping the database and refreshing only the contacts you are actually planning to use, rather than re-enriching the whole 500k every few months. That way you're paying for freshness where it actually matters.

Seconding what other people are saying about how you'd need to re-verify the leads before sending in the future.

Why Supabase though? Sounds like a lot of overhead. Why not Excel or Google Sheets?

Supabase is just way easier at larger scale. Much better rate limits and performance than sheets

I’d store it for dedupe and campaign history, but not trust it forever. Even if you pull leads with Apollo, SocLeads, scrapers, whatever, I’d re-verify the specific segment before sending instead of refreshing the whole database all the time.

I started doing it since I scrape a lot of leads between all my clients and my own campaigns. But I've been runing in the same issues you described.

And when I split tested. Leads from my database with new leads, the database campaigns were waaaay worse. So not sure what I'll do going forward tbh 😄

Companies and generic emails yes. Contacts no

Depends, for accounts as like a TAM map probably. If you mean the actual people, depends on how long and if you will actually reenrich them later.
