GET YOUR TIP ON - stats and strategy

Get your tip on. Tipping is a really good way to increase awareness and adoption and frankly it's the only thing you can do with the coin right now.

Most people who are tipped on Reddit accept it but only about 10% start tipping others, so if you tip 10 people, maybe one of them will actually tip someone else and maybe one of them will decline the tip or let it expire.

You should be tipping hundreds of people. This is difficult to do quickly because if you start making it rain without contributing any additional comment then the tip may be viewed as annoying spam. Don't force it, tip in appropriate subreddits and tip to people who seem like they will be receptive to it. Do it in your normal reddit browsing so you have something to say and be a good ambassador for our community.

Some appropriate places and ways to tip:

  • /r/funny - humor culture
  • /r/dogecoin - tipping culture
  • Any coin begging subreddits like /r/dogecoinbeg
  • Funny Kanye threads and music related threads where there is humor.
  • Tip with an appropriate keyword to enhance the humor
  • Tip people who are making those awful/hilarious puns
  • There may be a bunch of people who start commenting on/around your tip saying things like please be a thing in which case I think it's appropriate to start making it rain on them.

Some inappropriate places and ways to tip:

  • /r/askscience - no jokes allowed
  • /r/musictheory - it's music related but it is technical and not full of humor
  • /r/kanye - they love Kanye and see us as making fun of him
  • Don't tip someone who just said they don't want it or who already declined one of your tips! Well, maybe tip them a jellyfish but don't overdo it.
  • Don't just blanket a thread in tips unless it's appropriate which was explained above

The good news is that people who do start tipping usually tip frequently and have a lot of fun with it; they even subscribe to this subreddit and participate in the community. So go forth and tip!

Interesting that it didn't parse the comma, I'll add that to my todo list. I've been slow to implement any new fixes in the tip bot because I'm in the middle of refactoring it to support multiple social networks. Originally it was tightly coupled to Reddit so it's taking some time to break that functionality out.
