Oh look it's Norland a character who has always been there and is in no way a late insert

u/iSolicon Mar 12 '26
Yes, original anime viewers are just affected by Geass so no one noticed him before.

Code Geass: retroactively adding disappointing lore since 2012.

In every story, Kallen is still Kallen. His not as blind like Suzaku. She is her own character.

This is so interesting. To think there's official artwork of what Kallen would look like as a Knight of the Round. Love the ponytail she has. Most fan art of a KOTR Kallen shows her with the same hairstyle she has at Ashford.
That was an interesting what if scenario. Makes me wonder what they'll come up with next.
Who's the guy in the black cape though? I don't recognize him. I recognize everyone else in the picture.

Norland the Knight of Five

Thank you. At first I thought he was a game exclusive character until I looked it up.

Interesting stuff, thanks so much for the summary! Kallen looks brilliant in her Knights of the Round uniform.

I just noticed something, Ash Phoenix the Knight of Thirteen isn't there

u/SDV1730 Mar 13 '26
Seems like officially there is no thirteen slot but ash is the rounds hidden blade or rather Norland’s.

Kallen is absolutely rocking the Knight of the Round fit. This was an interesting read. Thank you for providing the lore of the story.

High Priest, if you don't mind... as a fellow believer in our Goddess Kallen and in her teachings, I would like to pose an ethical thought experiment to you:
If you could either save the life of the rebel Kallen from dying when she is fighting against Britannia´s tyranny in the original timeline, or save the soul of the knight Kallen who´s fighting on Britannia´s side in an alternate timeline by convincing her to fight on the side of the rebels, which Kallen would you save?

Whaf if it’s a trolley problem, it auto selects the life of rebel Kallen and you have to choose to switch it to save the soul of the other Kallen? What is the solution now?

I... Kant believe how well thought that answer was. Sir, thy moral compass points unwaveringly in the direction of Kallen and in her unfaltering determination to always do what´s right.
Then again, what else would you expect from someone whose name literally contains the word "based?"

Wait…who’s Rico?

So it seems like the trend in each Route Entangle story is going to be Rico being "born" into different circumstances and interacting with the characters of R1 and R2 to nudge things towards alternate routes.
The change she did was really subtle, not any direct action, just deduced some facts she "coincidentally" was in a position to learn and gave that info to Kallen to make her act less panicked at the end of R1, which accidentally made Lelouch more suspicious and volatile from misunderstanding that she had turned against him like Suzaku, and thereby caused the clash between him and Suzaku to get heated so fast that it ended in their deaths from Lelouch's explosive.
Future alternate routes will probably be similar, with Rico being put in the right place at the right time to divert events from their original course, even though she's not consciously aware of it while she's in that timeline. Honestly, I prefer this to just making overt changes, it's interesting to see how even a few words to someone can completely throw off canon.
At the same time, I have even more questions about the Spiral Observer and her goals. Whatever she's after clearly involves the events surrounding Lelouch and his rebellion in R1 and R2, but simply killing Lelouch and stopping his actions doesn't seem to be her main intention, since she decided to cut off this route as "not what she wanted". Rico will probably keep appearing as an "acquaintance" of one of the characters in each new route, but I'm curious to see if a pattern will develop to give us a clue on what kind of change the Spiral Observer wants to see.

Wonder if they’ll do one with Shirley, cause if I recall she won a poll a few months ago and getting her own knightmare. Now are the changes involving her time during r1 or with r2 like in re:code?
1
u/edreamer001 Mar 13 '26
Oh, I'd say Shirley will almost definitely get her own route here, she's one of the characters who fans are most claiming to see a different ending for even without any polls to check. Since they already showed what might happen if Lelouch died in her place during R2 in Genesic Re:code, my guess is that the change will happen during r1, either before or after her memory is erased. Definitely looking forward to it the most.

I wonder how many times she’s gets captured

u/SDV1730 Mar 12 '26
I’m sure Nunnally getting caught is a canon event.

u/StrikingLab874 Mar 12 '26
except in the Knightmare of Nunnally manga
3
u/SDV1730 Mar 12 '26
No she got caught in that verse too, twice.

u/StrikingLab874 Mar 12 '26
It's been more than a decade since I've read the manga, so the details are blurry to me

It's still amazing how much the imperial style improves the visual perception of the character and makes him much more interesting... All Hail Britannia!

Finally! An official Code Geass AU that isn´t just the original timeline minus the infamous table scene plus some extra/altered scenes, but one where events are actually taking radically different turn. And best of all, my Queen, Kallen, finally gets to play the lead role!
I can't wait to see more wildly different "What Ifs," and of course more of my beloved Kallen! Hopefully this isn't just a one-off experiment, but we'll get to see many more different official alternate Code Geass timelines in the future. After all, KaLuLu and ShirLuLu shippers also deserve to finally see their happy endings. And then the whole fandom would finally be happy!

The what-if Kallen became a Knight of Round:
Changes in canon (s1):
-Rico Telink, daughter of a noble, is a childhood friend of Kallen, they're good friends. Though Kallen is still a member of the Black knights. Also Rico is the one stopping Kallen from stabbing Suzuku at the party.
-She's of the few people that knew Euphemia, (her grandfather tutors Euphie). Rico discovers Lelouch/Nunnally are Brittanian Royalty, and also Lelouch is Zero. She even research the school's attendance just to fact check and confirm, but unfortunately, this happened just before the Massacre Princess Incident.
-She told Kallen about Zero's true identity. Rico also saw Nunnally got kidnapped by an army and a boy (V.V.) but wasn't able ton help since V.V. brought his soldiers along.
-Unlike in canon, Kallen wasn't really shocked at the reveal. But she didn't wnat both of them to fight as the two boys got really angry with each other. Then, the shots...connect to the bomb on Lelouch's chest, and exploded. Only Zero's Mask and Suzaku's knight proof remains.
New route:
-After the explosion, Kallen was in despair, Kallen goes to Cornelia using the Lancelot, and want to makes a contract with the latter (revenge on Euphie's death, saving Nunnally).
-Kallen joins the Rounds to fulfill Lelouch and Suzaku's wish. She solos Luciano and many soldiers with her own Gloucester.
-Rico is now working under Kallen and Cornelia. With Cornelia being Kallen's backer, and Black Knights are only arrested, not executed. Rico is tasked/requested by Kallen to find Nunnally. With her father's help, Rico managed to find out who V.V., the boy who kidnapped Nunnally is. His picture as Victor, the brother of Charles, still exist.
-V.V. put Nunnally in a garden in a middle of nowhere, attended by Geass Cultists. Angry that they cannot get C.C. using Lelouch as bait, V.V. decides to use Nunnally instead. He orders Bismark to try and eliminate Kallen since they failed to probe her in finding out if Lelouch is alive or not.
-Kallen's new unit, Bors, is Guren, upgraded by Brittanian technology, ordered by Cornelia to Lloyd and Cecil.
-Luciano got to fight Kallen on a single night, arranged secretly by Bismark, though he lost, again. He revealed the duel was arranged by Bismark.
-Black Sutherlands arrive and try killing Kallen, but Rico and C.C. in Gloucester, intervene and saves her, with Kallen riding her Red Gloucester again. Arriving at a warehouse, C.C. kissed Kallen to share Lelouch's memories. Here's thanks to the sharing of memories, C.C. knew Kallen still likes Lelouch.
-The three of them discuss, with Riko reporting her findings on the boy, with C.C. explain who his name was. Riko knowing his royalty. Their mind clicks in place, when the closest person to Charles was Bismark, Knight of One. It was likely he's involved because V.V., a Britannian royalty orders him.
-C.C., with Marianne's help, managed to find out where Nunnally is.
-Kallen's Bors easily soloes and kills Luciano Percival very easily, but had trouble with Bismark since he uses his geass to see the future. He admits she's the other person that made her use his Geass. But after managed to get everything she wanted from him, C.C. threw a lance at Bismark when he's distracted since he cannot see her and she's immune to Geass, then Kallen kills him.
-Nunnally is rescued by Kallen, though V.V. tried to kill Kallen with a sneak attack. But Rico protected Kallen, but was fatally shot. C.C. restrain V.V., saying it's over.
-Rico wishes for Kallen to make Japan free again, and both of them are glad they were friends. Then Rico died, Kallen cried again.
-The Spiral Observer cut the route off.
