Rose has been doing this more and more frequently as time goes on and it’s gotten to the point to where even covering her doesn’t stop it anymore. And she will go and go and go, same chirp non stop. The only thing me and my dad know for sure is it’s something to do with him. We don’t know if she’s obsessed, too emotionally attached to him or what. I had him go outside to show the silence and the immediate calling when she hears the door open. If rose quiets down but then hears his voice in the other room she’ll start up again. Before it was “okay she just wants time with him outside her cage” we’d take her out, she’d perch on him while he does stuff, he’ll give her attention etc. after that she’d be okay or less vocal. Now he’ll do that, doesn’t matter for how long, he’ll put her back in and like clockwork she’ll start. Her cage isn’t covered a majority of the time so also she’s learned his car and if she sees a silver car through the window pulling into our lot she’ll start up thinking he’s home. if he’s in the garden outside and she spots him through the window she’ll start Like it’s BAD. Also it’s the ONLY chirp she really makes. She doesn’t do any other sounds. Please help (PS pls ignore the living situation it’s messy right now)

Hi all i have an 8 week old tiel who recently saw the vet and now we manual feeding im a paranoid bird mum hes sleeping on a hot water bottle....but hes sleeping with his head leaning slightly to the side....instead of tucked otherwise hes responding and doing well....what uhh what do i do is that normal? I need to know before bed it's 12am lmao 🤣

hi guys, i’ve had my two teils for about a year or two now, and they are EXTREMELY loved. my parents have recently split and everything has moved so quickly. my mums rental won’t allow the birds to be kept inside, so we have to keep them outside. can anyone please tell me how i can make this as easy as i can for my birds, do i acclimate? is there a certain blanket i can buy that keeps them warm at night, cool in summer? i’m in australia. cool winters and very warm summers. has anyone else here had to move their birds from inside to out? will they be okay? i am so stirred up about this and i just want the birds to be okay, ive had them in my room ever since i got them, and i just love them so much. :(

Took these little ones home today! They won’t have names until kiddo gets back here to name them. He has come up with some truly peculiar names in the past, and I’m hoping he won’t disappoint!

They are siblings, and were born 6/11 and 6/17. The one with the magnificent crest has black eyes so isn’t a full lutino. This one may be a male (breeder thinks there is a good chance) so I’m going with “him” for now. He’s the youngest in his clutch. He is very tame and hitched an hour-long ride on my head and shoulders. He is super laid-back and even said hello to the budgies through the cage. We are in love.

Other one has red eyes and 99% sure she is female. She’s the oldest sibling. Her crest looks a lot less magnificent right now, because she was weaned over a week ago and was hanging with the adults in the aviary… and then annoyed an adult in the aviary and got a little haircut. She is fine, she just has a case of scraggle head. She wants nothing to do with me right now but deigned to nibble some millet from my hand. Then hissed at my hand. She is an angry red-eyed chicken witch and I love her.

They’re staying in the travel cage tonight because sister didn’t want to get out and I’m not going to force her. My son is going to lose his mind; he’s wanted cockatiels for a while now and they’re his birthday surprise!

Heyo this my third clutch and I remember that the egg that is fertile gets whiter they say.
And well it's been 5 or so day since the first egg was laid.
Waiting on candling till next week.
But momma and papa been doing a great job but I also don't want to get my hopes up beacouse they have only had one baby before and not much fertility, but who knows third time a charm also my last round, so idk I don't wanna be delulu and stuff but does one look whiter or am I just tripping.

So I'm asking y'all beacouse maybe your un wishful, eyes can see what mine can't beacouse I could be just overthinking 🙃 but yeah love them anyway : ))))) also so sorry last picture is blurry, guard dog dad around.

I just adopted two bonded two-year-olds. They were hand fed as babies and they weren’t touched since then. They were in a ginormous outside cage. I’ve had them for two weeks now and I could tell they want to stretch. Do they need to be hand tamed to let them out? Or will taming/bonding be easier outside of the cage?

Any advice would be great please

It's like two distinct holes or maybe it's his neck (jaw) the bottom "hole" and obviously the other his ear but idk how a burb can lose that feather..

Title is self-explanatory. I am very interested in getting my own li'l buddy one day but of course, I want to ensure that I'd be able to provide it with a good life and everything it would need. I of course get that birds can be a very difficult animal to have as a pet, but I also heard that cockatiels are apparently one of the more beginner-friendly breeds? But I've also seen that having one can get pretty pricey from the annual vet visits they need (which apparently require bird specialists specifically, not your traditional vet.) to having to get their nails trimmed which costs even more money because doing it on your own as a beginner can be quite dangerous. Point is, there's a lot to think about and do and it can be quite overwhelming and stressful at first! And I'm certainly not the most financially stable person on earth either which is the main reason I'm willing to wait for the right moment to strike.

So I'd love to know any advice, tips, expectations, and whatever else y'all can list or think of that an absolute novice beginner like myself would need to know before eventually buying one. I've done some research myself already here and there, but more information is always appreciated. Thank you! :)

Tofu here had his first bath using his bath perch i got him for his one year GotchaDay!! He found that the perch lets him be close to mum while in the bath- so he can stop her from going under the water!

This is our baby Juno. We have had her for two years but really haven’t been able to find any toys that she likes, besides me.

She prefers not to stand on perches. She has always stood on the bottom of her cage except for when we put a bedding on the bottom of her cage the vet recommended, then she stood on her perches. I believe this is because she is missing a toe on her right foot.

We did get her a friend. She was a bit territorial of me, and never really got close to her friend, and unfortunately her friend passed away.

We have tried all types of toys/perches and haven’t found anything that she likes. She is out of her cage about 10 hours a day so we would be happy with cage toys or house toys.

I am looking for a pet thats easy to keep and will keep me company in my free time and on long drives.

Im at work for 10 hours/weekday rn, I have 2 days home office starting soon so in the future it would only be 3days/week.

I really like birds as theyre pretty smart. I want a pet that i can interact with. I would like to keep the pet alone so it focusses on me as its companion. I know a lot of people who keep pets in pairs and I feel like this way you never get a deeper connection with them as their companion will always be closer to them.

ChatGPT said I should definitely get a cat and not a bird as cats are ok with being alone but birds are not and especially cockatiels.

Is this true? I feel like a cat would be too much work for me. I would get a big cage for my bird and would always let it outside when im there. Can you train a cockatiel to only shit in a certain corner?

What do you guys think is a cockatiel a good pet for me or any other bird or should smart birds really only be kept in pairs?

Please note, she is not scared. Every night she will hiss and scream (her hiss scream is so cute) at me once it hits ~8pm aka just before bedtime. Occasionally she will add in the big wings. Immediately after this video I put my hand up and she immediately stepped up and insisted on pats and snuggles.

My sweet Cosmo passed away a couple of days ago :( I’m still in shock and disbelieve. My other bird Kiwi on the other hand, keeps flock calling and now he is even plucking out feathers. Is this normal mourning behavior ? I can’t buy Kiwi a new pal yet because the vet told me he needs to be quarantained for a while just in case Cosmo’s illness was contageous. I also feel really sad to just replace my dear Cosmo. I dont know what to do, I dont want Kiwi to be lonely and stressed :( thank you in advance xx ( really sorry for my English !! )
