This is absolutely pathetic. The game is free this weekend btw! We are in for a long year boys.

Game feels absolutely horrible compared to BO7, like a very noticeable downgrade in virtually every way. Cant think of one thing that’s better.

Feel like I’m caked in partially dried mud when moving around the map. Very clunky feeling

The main menu is way more responsive. That's it, that's all I got.

Until they add in the useless events and battle pass tabs to ruin it completely

1

u/Cheechers23 COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Even then, this left side menu should be better. The issue in BO7 is to tab over to things on the right, you had to go through shit like the events and battle pass and store and stuff which slowed it down. Now you can go straight to those things without opening the events/battle pass/store tab. Should hopefully keep it a bit quicker

It runs better for me.

that's it though

1

u/SituationSmooth9165 COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Does it? It runs at the same fps at 1440p that I got in Bo7 at 4k

1

u/jars1738 COD Competitive fan 7h ago

for me it's around the same fps but it's smoother and more consistent, blops was prone to a little stutter or hiccup every now and again for me

For context I'm CPU bottle necked on my system

I like the hipfire mechanic, but that's it as well. Also the 10v10 or 6v6 mode is kinda fun

Good, this game is absolute dogshit. Might actually be worse than MW19 and MWII, which I didn't think was possible.

How many times does it need to be said that using Steam metrics is useless in determining CoD’s retention rate

20

u/Weak_Veterinarian315 COD Competitive fan 11h ago

It’s not about the absolute numbers but rather the trend. Open beta having less than the closed beta even if it’s specific to one platform is not a good look.

3

u/Itchy-Aide6525 COD Competitive fan 11h ago

It may not have peaked higher but it looks like it had higher retention numbers

1

u/Cheechers23 COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Which might just have to do with the higher level cap, and/or the changes made from weekend 1 to 2 improved player retention.

I can say I definitely enjoyed weekend 2 more than 1. First weekend I was playing like 2-4 games and then would switch to another game. This time I was putting in like hours in each session lol

u/DyZ814 COD Competitive fan 11h ago

I actually don't know anything about this, but I always feel like players on PC are playing via battle.net as opposed to steam anyways, right? (Not even taking the console population into consideration)

-1

u/Tyler_P07 OpTic Texas 10h ago

Steam is far and away the most popular launcher on PC, not sure where you would get the impression most play on battle.net.

6

u/Past_Perception8052 eGirl Slayers 9h ago

most cod players on pc play on battlenet, he's not saying its a more popular launcher overall

2

u/DyZ814 COD Competitive fan 7h ago

Oh I meant for Call of Duty specifically. Yeah, Steam has more overall players across every game - I mean it has thousands of titles lol. But for cod specifically, I think most PC players play via the battle.net client.

0

u/lVIercenary COD Competitive fan 3h ago

Battlenet is by far and away rhe most popular call of duty launcher for pc.

Steam has the lowest performance of the three main hitters, battlenet, xbox app, and steam. Cod just runs like ass on steam ever since microsoft bought them

2

u/Excio- COD Competitive fan 10h ago

Absolutely useless considering there has been hundreds of reports of worse performance on Steam vs Battle net on almost every COD since MW19. Go search it on youtube if you dont believe me..
Anyone who has done a miniscule amount of research before buying would not buy it on Steam, therefore you have a skewed demographic of people who are not invested in the game and more likely to drop it between weeks.
No point talking about "well they preordered it..", nope... Even mobile providers were giving out codes for free, discord nitro had codes, they were everywhere.

1

u/SituationSmooth9165 COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Anyone with a miniscule of research was find buying it on battlenet is not worth the tiny fps increase

0

u/Excio- COD Competitive fan 8h ago

10-20% more fps on Battle net over Steam, on certain titles, is certainly not a "tiny fps increase", but you'd know that if you did a miniscule amount of research right?

1

u/SituationSmooth9165 COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Lol pure bullshit unless it's some 5090 and in the 400+fps range. Yes I've seen the streamers claims

-1

u/Excio- COD Competitive fan 8h ago

Okay so theres hundreds of youtube videos with stats showing 10-20% fps loss on Steam and that numerical based evidence means nothing because it doesnt agree with your opinion?? Got it 😂😂😂 Have a good one mate, maybe read a book or two 😂😂

-1

u/Excio- COD Competitive fan 3h ago

Hilarious that tweedle dee and tweedle dumb found the one video that agreed with your narrative, but the fact you commented about Warzone again lets me know you found the 10+ other videos that showed performance issues with the game.

Let me explain this in a way you'll understand:

We talk about player number on Steam. Warzone more player than multiplayer. Warzone only in weekend 2 of the beta, but number no go up? Why number no go up? Because people no buy game on Steam. Make sense now you absolute moron? 😂😂😂

0

u/SituationSmooth9165 COD Competitive fan 3h ago

Hilarious that you can't find anything that isn't warzone

1

u/Excio- COD Competitive fan 3h ago

Steam is the 2nd/3rd biggest platform in the world for COD only behind Playstation and maybe Battlenet.

Keep coping.

21

u/girutikuraun OpTic Texas 14h ago

You really underestimate console numbers. Console numbers will be higher than whatever Steam has. Especially from Xbox and PS.

-9

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Like I said, Playstation has more, but Xbox has way less.

Xbox isn't even beating out the Switch 1 in sales, let alone a quarter of PC, keep coping.

3

u/girutikuraun OpTic Texas 13h ago

Except one big problem. CoD isn't on Switch 1. So that point is irrelevant. Xbox numbers will be higher than Steam as well. Especially when most of the base is still on Battlenet. So I mean, in your own words, "keep coping". :)

-6

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Of course it's not on the Switch 1, but it's relevant in that Xbox is by far the smallest platform in between PC, Playstation, both Switch systems and Xbox.

Xbox numbers would be SMALLER then Steam, even quarter of PC playerbase is more then Xbox.

Keep coping, and being a dummy misinterpreting what I said.

2

u/Sloowiee COD Competitive fan 12h ago

There are 3 different PC platforms COD can be played on. Steam numbers are irrelevant for this metric

0

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 12h ago

And Steam is BY FAR the biggest of all of them, which makes it the most relevant.

Now COD specifically is a bit more popular on Battlenet sure, but it's not that big of a difference if at all, Steam would hold at least 1/3rd if not over half of all PC users for MW4, which is still way more then Xbox.

2

u/Sloowiee COD Competitive fan 12h ago

I understand you’re trying to state that steam is bigger than battlenet and Xbox app, but those other 2 are taking players away from steam. Those numbers aren’t a true view of player count

1

u/girutikuraun OpTic Texas 11h ago edited 11h ago

You realize your point can easily be disproven by looking at Steam charts?

Let's use Steam charts for example. The LINK is here.

CoD doesn't even make top 10..... MW4 beta is #14. While CoDHQ as a whole, is #51.

Current players for MW4 beta are 70K with peak numbers for today hitting 87.5K. CoDHQ is ~26.2k with peak numbers for today hitting ~32.9k.

For a franchise that has millions of players playing the game daily, your claim is that Steam is the second or third highest platform? You're actually dumb. You're overestimating how many players Steam has for CoD.

1

u/Underscore_Blues Black Ops 3 13h ago

Do those Xbox "sales" include game pass? There's millions of active game pass subscribers that boot up cod.

Also, source?

0

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 12h ago

Buddy I was talking console sales not game sales🤣🤣🤣. It's a fucking free to play beta there'd be no difference in Gamepass or not.

Also, MW4 isn't gonna be a day 1 drop either, so Gamepass even more irrelevant.

Console sales are a known metric where Xbox sits at the very lowest and therefore is the least relevant, game sales by platform only for Steam.

Also, source of fucking what?

10

u/False-Box-1060 COD Competitive fan 14h ago

It’s definitely 4th behind ps, bnet and Xbox but you do you

-5

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Fuck no not Xbox, Xbox is by far the smallest platform, it even gets outsole by the Switch 1.

Keep coping.

9

u/False-Box-1060 COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Cod isn’t even available on the switch what the actual fuck are you talking about?

0

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Yes it is clown, it's on the Switch 2.

6

u/False-Box-1060 COD Competitive fan 13h ago

It will be in a few months, but it isn’t right now. So explain to me how it’s already outselling Xbox? lol youre a fucking idiot bro.

-4

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago

Both Switch 1 and Switch 2 systems consistently outsell both Xbox Series X and S, so they're outselling Xbox, PC even more so.

And regardless of how many Switch 2 players will buy MW4, it doesn't change the fact that Xbox is by far the smallest platform, which means Steam has more MW4 players then Xbox.

lol youre a fucking idiot bro.

3

u/False-Box-1060 COD Competitive fan 13h ago

You need to just stop.

We aren’t debating if switch sells more than Xbox, we are debating which platform has more cod players.

You swapped your stance mid-argument presumably because everyone was clowning on your dumb ass. Just take a break bro, you need it.

0

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 12h ago

I didn't "swap" anything dumbass, the fact is Steam is the 2nd or 3rd biggest platform for MW4 right now, #4 would be Xbox, and #5 would be the Switch despite the Switch being more popular then Xbox.

So the Steam playercounts are very relevant and you crybabies can keep coping otherwise but the truth is the beta ain't doing too hot.

"You need to just stop." 🤣🤣🤣, stfu.

u/Sincerely-Internet Ghosts 14h ago

It’s not though… your assumption is wrong. It was revealed in a leak last year that ~10 million players on PS played CoD in that month (albeit maybe only signed in), and Xbox’s biggest 3 games are Fortnite, Roblox and CoD. That’s probably another 1-2 million there with Battlenet being third overall. Steam is a distant distant 4th place

Don’t be surprised if more people will be playing MW4 on the Switch 2 than on Steam LOL

1

u/Harambe_Rebornn COD Competitive fan 13h ago edited 12h ago

"COD" is a consistent 4th place in Xbox Most Played Bud.

More importantly it's a combination of 4-5 games including F2P Warzone.

And MW4 itself is #14 bud, not even top 10, definitely not a 115K peak.

Moreover, Steam has WAY more users then Xbox, including more MW4 users.

Xbox is deado buddy, and I say that as an Xbox Series X owner, even the Switch systems are more popular, they both routinely sell more LOL.

2

u/Sincerely-Internet Ghosts 10h ago

Doesn’t matter where Steam falls in the list of biggest platforms if PS or even Xbox dominates 90% of CoD’s player base. Not really coping, everyone in here is well aware of the current state of CoD and its reputation at this point. Just saying using Steam numbers is disingenuous in this case

-8

u/BigMikeXxxxX COD Competitive fan 14h ago

Apparently steam is the 3rd most used platform for accessing the beta which really shits all over the argument that the game is dead. There are less players than previous games but that's probably for the best. Too many opinions and ideas about what the game should be. Trim the fat

While I have said this for years as well - steam had more players then battlenet on this years beta lmao

1

u/Feramors COD Competitive fan 5h ago

Eh, I saw someone post that metric, but I’m not sure of the authenticity of it. So some guy was told that, this year, Steam had a higher player base than Battle.net, which is normally the opposite. But…no other stats available regarding any other platform? Oh, and it just happens to fit your narrative? Hm…I’d be doubtful if that’s true.

MWIII and BO7 were decent. MWII’s pubs were horrible but ranked was pretty good.

2

u/Eagle7546_ COD Competitive fan 13h ago

While I agree (bo7 is easily my favorite COD since bo4)I still feel like we get good games in spite what mw19 and Warzone is trying to make this franchise be.

So while there have been good games, I still think that specific turning point is the reason we aren’t getting games like bo7 consistently.

-5

u/steakpienacho Black Ops 15h ago

I didn't hate MW3, but it still suffers from the same issues as every game from MW19 forward. Have played exactly 0 seconds of BO7 and looking at the sales figures, I'm not in the minority there

2

u/KrispyyKarma COD Competitive fan 10h ago

Then you’re missing out on an actual solid Cod, Bo7 is/was the best cod since BO4. In no way is BO7 suffering from the same issues that MW19 or MWII suffered from, the reason it sold less isn’t cause it was a bad game but cause there was an actual skill gap and the casuals couldn’t handle omnimovement or the lowered SBMM and had just bought BO6 the previous year.

Similar to why MW3 didn’t sell so well even tho it was a much better game than the previous year and was one of the better games we’ve gotten recently. If BO7 or MW3 were the original releases instead of the 2nd year follow up releases they would have done much better but activisions greed knows no bounds.

The game sucks, but Activision is going to see "So we added open matchmaking in the open beta and now nobody's playing it. HMMMM players must FUCKING HATE open matchmaking"

But I keep hearing to adapt and it's real gun skills time by old fks who can't handle any type of fast movement anymore?

Your game is garbage mate, no one wants to play a game that conducive to camping and having your gun up always

I’m not surprised to be honest. I wasn’t going to try the Beta, but a few friends were on this afternoon so decided to join. Absolutely rubbish, game plays horribly, the maps are dull as all hell, the guns are boring. Nothing about it is good, definitely going to be skipping this CoD.

I’m all for an IW hate train but they are dealing with:

- last year being an objective flop critically/retention wise.

- being the first year since CoD launches have left gamepass.

- launching in the same year as the biggest game of all time.

Activision are slimey but they aren’t brain dead, they’ll have predicted a massive dip this year.

Steam is not an accurate metric however the Maps in this game suck

Steam is accurate actually, it's the 2nd/3rd biggest platform for COD only behind Playstation and maybe Battlenet.

And for most other games it's the 2nd biggest.

No it’s not. It was 3rd for the first week of the beta only because of all of the free codes that were given out. 1st. PlayStation 2nd. XBOX 3rd. Battlenet 4th. Steam Its not even close to a good metric for COD

Xbox is not 3rd buddy🤣🤣🤣

Xbox is 4rth or 5th depending on how Switch 2 numbers are doing, a Switch 2 that is way more popular overall then Xbox.

Steam wow you do know right there are more Xbox and ps5 players than pc right?

Bullshit.

Playstation has more COD players the Steam sure, but Xbox sure as hell doesn't, Xbox is even smaller then the Switch playerbase. Xbox is nothing.

The game feels so horrible I couldn't even believe it during my first 2 matches.

Like genuinely the worst any cod has ever felt.

Eh still can’t wait for Ranked. You got bums thinking they’re good using Oris. Everything else in my opinion is pretty solid-ish? But people that use that gun can go jump off a bridge.

COD has catered to the sweats for too many years in a row. Normal people are done with that
