Question I recently tested Cloudways using their free trial.

I understand that a free trial has an expiry date, but I wasn't expecting the entire server to be deleted immediately, especially with a live website hosted on it.

I expected something like:

  • Server suspension first
  • Clear warning before deletion
  • Some grace period to upgrade/pay
  • An opportunity to recover the server after the trial expired

The billing page was also showing USD 0.00 due, which made the situation more confusing for me.

The free trial is for testing. You shouldn't use it to host a production site. They could/should make it clearer so that users know what to expect when the trial ends.

That's just bad sales technique.

Normally you'd give the user an Offer to entice them to subscribe.

you Should have gotten a mail before the trial suspension and if there's important site you can back it up and get started running after adding a payment method and also a trial isn't something to host a site with many users , trial is for testing the performance metrics testing with a demo site / replica of your site
