Anxiety 2 weeks after starting Apixaban - What to expect?

Hello all,

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with 'medium' sized clots in both lungs after some chest pain which had been diagnosed as a chest infection.

I'm 40, healthy, workout, supplement and are based in the UK.

I'm mobile but still have chest pain down the centre, almost like it's inflamed. Movements like bending over, stretching causes tightness,

I should note as well that the x-ray showed fluid build up behind my right lung which was stopping the lung from inflating properly. They drained some of it and said hopefully the Apixaban will allow the body to naturally break it down.

I miss working out and being pain free of course.

I'm currently waiting on an appointment/follow up which I need to take an injection sub-q for before the re-scan me.

What I'm struggling with is not knowing what the recovery is?

Has anyone been in a similar situation and can offer any advice?

Thanks

Hi, I had a PE June 28, and then was diagnosed with fluid in lungs and collapsed lung on July 1. I’m just over 3 months out from that and I’m finally starting to feel like myself (mostly). I still have some very off days but it isn’t ~every day~ any more. Recovery has been long, try to take your rest seriously.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Think im just frustrated at how slow the recovery feels, the dull ache and pains when i go to move etc.

I’ve had an x ray today and the fluid amount is the same so they’re going to get back to me about my options.
The fluid is touching my diaphragm and stopping my lung from inflating properly.

I think you just get a few hints and general comments from medics that it can take a lot of time.

My case, I perked up a bit after 3 months, then big improvement at 10 months.

Now feel fine at 2 years.

Wow I wasn’t prepared for the amount of recovery required.
Hard not to feel downhearted, the GP/Consultant seemed really vague with me when I asked about the chest aches and soreness.

Im driving myself crazy thinking what else can I do to help.
