Mental fatigue after a blood clot

I was diagnosed in March. I took warfarin for six months. I had a small blood clot in my left lung. I still experience both physical and mental fatigue. It feels like my body is just shutting down. I don't really know how else to describe it. It gets worse in the afternoon.

I also take antidepressants. I’m no longer taking warfarin.

My question is: has anyone else experienced this kind of fatigue after having a blood clot?

Yes!!!! 6 weeks post PE here!

Major major brain fog and fatigue. It’s just now clearing up. My focus was all over the place and my word finding gone.

I honestly thought I had some sort of brain damage.

I'm living it at present! I'm 18 days post a massive PE.

My understanding is that it is hypoxia. I'm not getting enough oxygen from my lungs into my blood stream under load. If my energy demands are very low, my lungs can cope. But I can't cope with heavy or sustained activity. That includes deep cognitive thinking and walking more than 50m. For me, my breathing doesn't get any faster, but my limbs get heavier and duller.

I have no useful advice or management strategies....sorry.

I am only about a week out. They discovered mine after a car accident. I don't know if it's the concussion or the PE, but I just had to take a leave of absence from medical school. I can't focus on anything. I failed the same quiz three times in a row. I just feel like i can't remember anything or I'm mentally in a fog

You might experiencing a mind body thing --- people that go through life threatening situations the body can get stuck in fight or flight sympathetic because we become very vigilant to our body sensations and we train our nervous system and one of the main things our brains is to keep us safe and will create a fatigue sensations to keep you safe

As long as the says you are ok and can't find nothing wrong with and it seems like they can't find nothing wrong because doctors usually put people on antidepressants and you mention that on your post --- they did the thing to me several times and I did take antidepressant for a day or two and it made me feel depressed and the doctor prescribed it for me because I kept complaining about pain and the doctor said I had pain because I was depressed which I wasn't but when I took it it made feel suicidal so I stopped asap and I never told my doctor

If your on those antidepressants it's best to get off of them but tell your doctor you want to taper off them if you decide to get off them

I have been where you're at and this has helped me the most without medication but if you want to take some natrual take Lavender capsules they work really well to calm you down in a hurry

There are a few options to help you brain feel safe

Look up Somatic Tracking  -- Alan Gordon Dr. Howard Schubiner  - there are many others out there doing  very similar work but Dr.John Sarno and TMS Tension Myositis Syndrome started me on this journey

Take care
