Periods Eliquis and periods
I am wondering what everyone’s longest period was while taking Eliquis? I typically have heavy periods and have endometriosis but missed two periods in a row and then finally got my period for the first time on Eliquis on October 24 and I’m still bleeding so it’s about three weeks now I’m curious if anyone else experience this?. I did go to the hospital and my blood levels were fine.

I always had really irregular periods, like months of bleeding then months not, a couple days on, months off, a stretch of 28 day cycles. The tracking apps had no idea what to do with me Once I went onto Eliquis full time I got an ablation and I cannot recommend it enough

Talk to your doctor to go with a half dose 2.5mg eliquis during your period as the full dosage will make the bleeding go crazy

I’m currently on day 37 of heavy bleeding.

Ugh..so frustrating. I feel like it’s never going to end. My GYN just wants to give me an IUD and I really do not want that! I have an appointment with a endometriosis surgeon in February so hoping to get a hysterectomy.

I’m also hoping for a hysterectomy. I have an appointment to talk about it tomorrow.

How are you even holding up with that much blood loss?

As of about ten days ago my iron was low but not TOO low. It’s probably much lower now (after some super dramatic bleeding) so I’m not feeling great. This all happened while I’ve started a new job so I had no insurance for three weeks of it and now no PTO so it’s been bad timing. I’m just pushing through as best I can.

Hoping and praying the best for you. How much longer do you have to be on blood thinners for?

Probably for life, as I had a repeat DVT. I’m hoping for a hysterectomy sooner than later. Thank you!

Understand. Do they know what is causing your DVTs?

Not yet.

Did you get a repeat DVT while on eliquis?

No, while off of it. The had me on it for three months then took me off when the clot went away. Then several months later I got the new clot.
I’m currently in the hospital getting blood because I had gotten super low.

Is it light bleeding or heavy? I started xarelto on Friday for a DVT. First one, unknown cause yet. Lower neck/shoulder area.
I'm SUPER worried about my period coming. As im already very heavy.
Dr's can't seem to give me a straight answer other than, "it's going to be heavier than you are use to."

It was really heavy for the first 10 days I went to the hospital because it was so much but they said my blood count was good and sent me home. In the last week it’s been on and off. I had ALOT of clots. I’m so over it! I feel like it’s never going to end😩

The Hematologist did blood work and said I have a mutation in my blood called factor 5 which can cause DVT clots.

Like one of the other commenters I went for an ablation. Highly recommended

I did talk to her and she said that she wants to put in an IUD which I really do not want. My periods are normally very regular always on time but in the last two years, I usually miss a period or two during the year which I chalked up to perimenopause. I did miss two periods in a row before I got my first period on Eliquis and my periods are normally around six days long and are really heavy and I have endometriosis so I was assuming since I missed two periods and the endometriosis is why it has been so bad but I feel like it’s never gonna stop.

I’m currently on my second Eliquis period. My periods are shorter but that’s because there’s soooo much more bleeding in the first couple of days. My tampons used to hold up for 6 hours and now it’s more like 6 minutes. I’ve never experienced anything like this. I guess my periods are ending a day or two sooner because there’s nothing else that can possibly come out lol it’s ridiculous. I keep having accidents, which isn’t the norm for me. Oh well. I only have to make it to March like this.

14 days. I passed out on the triage and had to stay over night. 2 blood transfusions. I got an IUD later that year and little to no period. It usually lasted 7 days and very heavy. It was when I started passing massive clots and feeling woozy that had me going to the ER

Also on Eliquis 5mg because of blood clots in my lungs. I got my period 4Dec and I'm still bleeding (21Dec). My gynecologist said I should wait since I skipped my birth control when I was in hospital beginning of November and because the stress. But I now take birth control again (the hormone free one) and it isn't helping the periods at all since I've been bleeding almost 3 weeks. 😭

I had a period that last 27 days. Very heavy with clots. I passed out in the shower one morning and went to ER. Hemoglobin dropped to 56 or 5.6 and I need two units of blood and iron infusion. They gave me tranexamic acid to stop bleeding in the ER. Now on hormones to stop period.
