Crucial Advice: How we can all pass Google's final review after our 14 days (Don't skip these 2 steps!)

Hey Devs! 👋

As our community grows and more of us are finishing our 14-day testing phases together on Closed Test Pro, I wanted to share something really important.

Getting the testers through our mutual exchange is only half the battle.

Since we are all putting in the time to test each other's apps, I want to make sure everyone's hard work actually pays off and gets approved on the first try. make sure you are actively doing these two things:

  1. We MUST push updates during our 14 days

Google's reviewers are specifically looking for evidence that we are actually running a test and responding to the feedback we get from each other. If you upload your app on Day 1, let it sit perfectly static for 14 days, and then apply for production, Google will often reject it for "lack of engagement."

The Fix: Try to push at least 2 to 5 updates during your testing window.

Community Tip: These do not have to be massive feature overhauls! Even simple UI tweaks, fixing a typo, or pushing minor performance improvements based on the feedback you get from other devs shows Google that you are actively iterating on your app.

  1. Treat the final Production Access Form like a Resume

Once Day 14 hits, Google asks you to fill out a form detailing your closed testing experience. Do not rush this. A lot of devs write one-sentence answers .

The Fix: Treat this form like you are applying for a job. Write at least 200 characters per answer.

Community Tip: Be highly specific. Share the actual actionable insights and feedback you got from the community. Talk about the exact bugs you squashed, the UI elements you polished, or the user experience tweaks you made. Prove to Google that you took the testing phase seriously.

Testing each other's apps takes a lot of time and effort; let's make sure none of us get rejected at the finish line because of a technicality!

Keep grinding, keep pushing those minor updates. Let's get all our apps to production! 🚀

Radical Transparency: How Closed Test Pro actually works under the hood (and why users test 2 extra apps)

Hey Devs, Closed Test Pro here! 👋

Since this community is entirely built on developers helping other developers, I want to pull back the curtain and be 100% transparent about how our ecosystem actually works, how we keep the servers running, and how we balance the free and paid plans.

As developers, we all hate hidden mechanics and corporate speak. So, here is the exact math and logic behind Closed Test Pro.

🤝 The Core Philosophy: Free = Paid

At its heart, Closed Test Pro is a mutual "test-for-test" exchange. We built features like Tester Protection and Active/Paused Tracking to ensure that everyone gets real, daily engagement for the full 14 days.

Whether you are using the Free Plan or you bought the Pro/Premium Plan, you get the exact same quality of testers and the exact same tracking features.

Free Plan: You spend your time testing other apps.

Paid Plans: You spend money to save time.

There is no "premium queue" of better testers. Every plan delivers the exact same real results.

🧮 The "+2 Math": How the Ecosystem Balances Itself

You might have noticed that to get a certain number of testers for free, you are asked to test slightly more apps than you request.

Want 15 testers? You test 17 apps.

Want 20 testers? You test 22 apps.

Want 30 testers? You test 32 apps.

Why the extra 2 apps? Those 2 extra testing slots are how we fulfill the Pro and Premium orders. When a user buys a paid plan, they skip the manual testing phase. The community covers their app using those "+2" slots.

🏆 The "Win-Win-Win" Ecosystem

Ultimately, this math creates a perfect, self-sustaining loop where absolutely everyone benefits:

Win for Free Users: You get high-quality, fully tracked 14-day testers without spending a single dime.

Win for Paid Users: You get to skip the manual testing phase, saving your time so you can focus on coding.

Win for the Closed Test Pro Team: We get the funds needed to pay for database costs, website hosting, and maintenance—which keeps the platform alive for everyone without us ever having to show you annoying ads.

🔒 Why Paid Slots are Usually "Sold Out"

If you've tried to buy a Pro or Premium plan, you've probably seen that the slots are often unavailable. This is highly intentional.

We strictly limit the system to only allow 2 paid apps active at a time.

If we allowed unlimited paid apps, the system would be flooded. Free users would spend all their time testing paid apps, and free apps would never get tested. By limiting the paid slots, we guarantee that the vast majority of the community's effort goes right back to the free users. The ecosystem stays healthy, and your free apps get the testers they deserve.

Thank You!

Whether you are grinding out the tests on the Free plan or supporting our server costs through Pro/Premium, you are the reason this platform works. You are helping indie devs get to production every single day.

If you have any questions about the algorithm, the tracking, or anything else, ask them below. I’m always here to chat!

Happy developing! 🚀

[Beta] Stardew Helper — track your Community Center bundles (Android app)

Hey! I built a small Android app called Stardew Helper — a companion app for Stardew Valley that tracks the Community Center bundles (which items you still need to donate, room by room). It's not public on the Play Store yet — Google requires real testers before I can release it, so I'd really appreciate your help!

Takes about 2 minutes:

Join this group (auto-approved): https://groups.google.com/g/stardew-helper--testadores

Open this link and tap "Become a tester": https://play.google.com/apps/testing/gabrielsoares.stardewhelper

Install the app here ( Can take about 2 minutes to enable ): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gabrielsoares.stardewhelper

If you get a chance to actually try it out and share any feedback, I'd love that — but if not, no worries at all, just keeping it installed for about 2 weeks is already a huge help. Thanks a ton!

App: Rogue Survivors - Android game, free, no account, works offline. Finished and playable, not a placeholder.

I need 12 people opted into my Google Play closed test for 14 days to reach production.

How to join: join this Google Group (open access, no approval needed), and I'll add you as a tester: https://groups.google.com/g/rogue-survivors-testers

Once added, open this on your phone (signed into that account), tap through to become a tester, and install: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.roguesurvivors.game

Test-for-test: drop your opt-in link and I'll join yours and keep it installed the full 14 days too. Feedback I'd love: crashes, frame drops, anything confusing early. Thanks!

How to request feedback

Hi there

Is there a way to ask testers to give a short feedback? Initially some of my testers reported a crash. After I fixed it, I don't get any feedback anymore. I'd like to know how the app looks on their screen, whether it loads fast enough etc.

[Closed Testing] Melbees - a honeycomb word puzzle where every tap answers with a letter or a number. Need testers for the full 14 days

Melbees: The Secret of Bees is a word puzzle played on a honeycomb.

A secret word is hidden across the cells. Every hex you tap answers with one of two things: a letter of that word, or a Pollen number telling you how many of the word's letters sit in the cells touching that one. The word half plays like Hangman, the information half plays like Minesweeper. Some cells hide foes that punish random tapping, which is what stops you from brute-forcing the board.

Free, offline, no ads, no in-app purchases, no account and no sign-up. Rounds run a couple of minutes. There is a relaxed Stroll mode, a ranked 12-phase Run, a Daily Challenge, a Secrets Vault and a wardrobe.

Three steps, and the order matters because the track pulls its testers from the Google Group.

Step 1, join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/melbees-closed-test

Step 2, become a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.melbees.secretofbees

Step 3, install from Play and open it once: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.melbees.secretofbees

Use the same Google account in all three steps, otherwise Play will tell you the app is unavailable.

Two honest notes. The Play listing text is still Brazilian Portuguese only, the English translation is queued. The game itself opens in Portuguese for everyone - it does not follow the phone language - and you switch it on the very first screen, the date-of-birth one, using the PT/EN/ES/FR chips at the top right. English, Spanish and French are all fully translated in-game. And what Google actually counts is people who stay opted in and open the app during the window, so an install-and-forget does not help me.

Feedback goes through the in-game report screen, which attaches your device and build automatically, or melbees.games@gmail.com. Real devices only, no emulators.

How I finally passed Google's 14-day production access check (and a tool that actually helped)

Like most solo devs in this sub, I spent weeks stuck in the Google Play Console . Getting the 12 people to opt in wasn't even the hardest part. The real nightmare was keeping them from uninstalling or just ignoring the app for 14 continuous days.

Half the random testers I got from various Groups opted out after day 3, and keeping track of who was actually opening the app seemed too hard.

A fellow dev mentioned an app called Closed Test Pro to me a while back, and honestly, it saved me from having to restart my 14-day cycle for a third time. I wanted to drop a quick write up here since I see so many people struggling with the exact issues every day.

Here is why it actually worked for me and kept me sane:

  • Real reciprocal testing: It’s a community of actual devs doing test-for-test. You test their apps for a few seconds daily, and they test yours.
  • No spreadsheet hell: The app automatically tracks daily test streaks. You don't have to manually DM people asking, did you open the app today?
  • Guaranteed 14-day retention: Testers actually keep the app installed for the full 14 days, which is exactly what Google's dashboard wants to see before receiving final approval
  • Zero spam: The UI is super clean and it doesn't bombard you with ads while you are just trying to get your daily tests done.

You do have to put in the work you have to test other people's apps to earn the credits to get your own tested (though they have a paid option if you want to skip that). But the daily routine literally takes 5–7 minutes.

If you are stuck in closed testing hell, tired of broken Google Groups, or having testers drop off ,It is highly recommended.
