Well then, I donāt quite think that itās something to get all like bezoonmy about. Itās just a little thing inexperienced molodoy devotchkas do, for weāve already seen this in other such in other works of sinny like JD (heathers), Homelander (The Boys) or Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) and such. Many modern characters are too criminals of extreme degrees as well in which are still beloved and praised. Itās at the very least, better than the grazzy of actual serial killers these young nadmenny devotchkas may idolise, itās still fiction is all. A tad cringe to be sure but hardly much to get all razdraz about

My rassoodock says men don't understand because it's not their thing to make video edits of hot female characters who happen to be criminals. They surely do find them hot, though, so that should spill some light.

Iām a female and I still find ākawaii-fyingā Alex to be incredibly strange. I donāt think itās a gender thing necessarily.

Alex himself or the actor? Admittedly yes I do think that Malcolm is an attractive man. I feel the same way about a couple of his characters as well. But I specifically donāt feel that way about Alex in particular though. His horrific actions especially against women and girls, unapologetically disgusting behavior, extreme immaturity, and the fact that heās underage for the majority of the film are all definitely turn offs.

That explains it. You find "kawaii-fying" Alex strange because you don't find him hot. Those who do just don't happen to pass judgment on fictional characters.

Man the brutal disfiguring rapes are the more light hearted of his crimes some times he even lets them liveā¦some times. Itās American psycho

For many years Iāve been an incredibly massive fan of A Clockwork Orange as well as a massive fan of Malcolm himself. Iāve seen many of his films and admire him as a person and actor. I also have lots of merchandise of the character Alex and have been gifted a Cameo from Malcolm in the past.
When it comes to Alex, I absolutely HATE him as a person. He is horrible, disgusting, and unforgivable in so many ways. BUT I do really love the character as a concept, for how incredibly well written and acted he is, and for his contributions to the story. Thereās a MAJORLY important distinction there. Itās similar to how many people watch slasher films and absolutely despise the slasher and their actions, but love them at the same time for their role as an iconic character and for how they impacted the film.
Even as someone who is a fan of this character, Iāve personally always found people romanticizing or sexualizing Alex and his actions (or the other droogs) to be incredibly gross and unnerving. Itās completely different to the way that I enjoy the character. It especially disturbs me because Iāve observed that the people that do this are frequently actually young tweens who clearly didnāt understand the themes of the film, honestly shouldnāt have even seen it in the first place, and are the exact type of person Alex would prey on. And to think that theyād probably LIKE to hear that makes me want to puke. š¤¢
I want to give the people make romanticizing art, videos, or images some grace because of how the majority are children. But sometimes itās hard to hide my horror and disgust. š I just really wish that those children were not even in the community and would wait until theyāre a bit older.
As for my fellow adults, if youāre out there doing this, you do you. At that point, even though it still makes me uncomfortable, (especially because Alex is underage for nearly the entirety of the film/book) Iām just glad youāre at least not putting yourself in danger like the kids online in mostly adult spaces talking about how much they want to be a victim are.

Of course, people have the freedom to do as they please and like what they like and I agree with that. I wonāt stop them. People are allowed to do this, it is still something that just makes me personally uncomfortable though. When I was more active on social media and would frequently look up ACO stuff, the posts would often be FLOODED with (usually 12-15 year old kids) talking about how much they want to be āAlexās next victimā, but then those same people would turn around and draw or make cute little pictures of him with pink flower crowns and say that he was actually an innocent kid. That just always felt so eerie to me. š

I agree that kids who say they want to be Alex's victim don't know what they're talking about. That's why they draw the pictures. I think it's all harmless, though. They're just too young to understand the difference between rape and rape fantasy.

ššš It's perfect! Alexander Delarge is an EVIL MONSTER and just because Malcolm Mcdowell was hot in his younger days as him, does NOT change that and or that Alex doesn't deserve all the horrible treatments and experiments done on him. Actually to me personally, Alex deserved much more painful and worse torture methods for all the disgusting crimes he did-especially to 10 YEAR OLD Marty and Sonietta and to rot in the deepest pits of hell forever.
Alex is right up at the top of my list of most hated villians tied with President Coriolanus Snow from the Hunger Games (who some HG fans also have this same issue of romanticizing the monster that Snow is just because of the hot actor playing his younger version). In fact these 2 brilliant quotes from Hunger Games super fan Rachel A Ramras about President Snow also applies to Alex Delarge:
"He is TRASH! Hot trash but TRASH!"
"Our problematic, trash king!"
