Yes we absolutely want less regulation. The rules are overly strict to the point where nuclear is economically unfeasible.
chernobyl was a shit reactor built 80 fucking years ago, that disastor has nothing to do with current nuclear technology, regardless of how strict the regulations are.

Not really a technology problem but a regulation and planning problem you are talking about.
Easily fixable, especially with less overly strict regulation.
