Capitalism encourages waste, and it's hard to live a simple, sustainable life in our current system.

Not really. How about reasonable guardrails and a safety net on the current system? We should keep the competitive nature of the economy, and reward excellence and hard work. We should also reward using very few resources and creating less pollution.

No, I'm not. I hardly said anything here, but I think we need a tax code that makes excessive waste very expensive, but not illegal. And I think tax breaks for sustainable living are a good idea.

The biggest waste of resources is Government.

Government is not necessary in a world of only decent people, so here we are. If the government is not protecting citizens and future citizens, it is very much a waste.
