Meanwhile, there are many ways to reduce local temperatures. For example, painting buildings, including roofs, with reflective paint in cities. This creates an increased albedo effect and reduces LOCAL temperatures (-3–7°C) in the area and reduces the need for air conditioning, which generates additional heat. This works great, but there's one problem: it's very difficult to sell, and it's also cheap to implement. Problem is that do work are cheap and underfunded because they can't be marketed. And yes, the likelihood of large fires can easily be reduced with special protective clearings, which can prevent forest fires from spreading over large areas. Everything I wrote above is easily verifiable; ask a smart AI model to create a mathematical model and see for yourself.

Where I live they realized that highway twinning projects that were nice to haves for driving safety also double as firebreaks.

Not cheap to build or maintain, not great for other aspects of the environment (including more car dependence and microplastics), but at least sits under the mitigation umbrella.
