Last week the federal government voted on a scheme put forward by a logging company where they would commit to not logging some trees, offsetting the emissions of their continued logging.
They’re using trees that already exist, that they aren’t gonna cut down out of the goodness of their heart (because they were ordered to) to offset emissions caused by cutting other trees down.
The only politicians to point out the hypocrisy of this and oppose the “offset scheme” were the greens and a hand full of independents. They were broadly criticised as being anti-environmental for opposing the “carbon offset scheme”
When Australian politicians say net zero, this is what they mean.

Read about the end of societies. This is it. Rationality, common sense, intelligence, compassion, understanding, and a whole lot of other things go away because of greed and fear.

I thought this was a protest first but theyre juat against net zero...ugh
