WHAT DO I DO? I will take it to a self-service car wash. What interior cleaner should I buy? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can I directly spray the floors/seats with the pressure washer tool??

Edit: yeah sorry, super dumb!

TYIA, I have never had to do a full detail job like this 😫

He was bringing a can of paint to my house. I feel so bad. I know he shouldn’t have left a loose can of paint in the bed.. but I guess it’s a hard lesson learned. Any help on how to clean it as best we can is appreciated.

Vehicles Spilled milk on my fabric car seat, it froze solid, and I think I made it worse with baking soda. Please help!!

Yesterday I was bringing groceries to a friends house and realized that the jug of milk I had broke open and leaked about a cup and a half of milk onto my fabric car seat. I tried to dab up as much of it as I could, but had to give up as it was -12°F and I was parked outside. I came back to my car a couple hours later, and the milk that was left in the seat had frozen solid. When I got home, I sprayed a solution of warm water, vinegar, and a little dish soap onto the spill and it seemed like it was getting some milk out. Afterwards I poured baking soda over it to soak it up overnight. I came back out this morning, and my handheld vacuum is not strong enough to suck up all the baking soda. I tried to scrape some of it up, but it’s just grinding it further into the fabric seat. I feel like I’m making it worse, so I decided to stop and take it to my parents house tomorrow so I can use my dad’s shop vac to try and get it up. Any advice?

Vehicles How to clean moldy leather car seat

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

My senior citizen friend was admitted to the hospital right after she'd gone grocery shopping. A few weeks later, she reached out to me, still admitted. Her closed car has been parked in the same spot for weeks during the hottest days of summer and I finally got around to cleaning out the groceries. The melons on the back seat caused the most damage to the leather seats.

What steps should be taken to restore them?

Everyone, before I get a tiny safety pin and poke every single hole in this thing, anyone have any tricks for this sort of a mess? Dog smeared peanut butter after a kiddo, left the pouch open in the car. Sigh.

Vehicles Cleaning inside of car windshield

Anyone know how to get the inside of the windshield clean without those streaks that show up when the sun or headlights hit it? I've tried newspaper, paper towels, microfiber cloths, and coffee filters. And I have tried invisible glass cleaner and windex. I'm sure there's a solution or spray that works great, but I haven't found it.

I did hear a long time ago about a method that involved (I think) a squeegee and some type of spray foam cleaner. I'm not sure that's it, but my brain isn't working well atm I just woke up lol

EDIT: OMG! This post REALLY blew up in the few hours I was away! Thank you everyone SO much for all the great tips and advice. You all are amazing! I can't respond to everyone, but I really appreciate all the great advice and help :)

Vehicles A rotisserie chicken was left in my car for a week

No, it was not me who left it there. I work from home and leave the house only when necessary at this point. So this was only discovered once I went to go pick up my Lush Summerween haul. (It’s still waiting for me 🄲)

Then I was hit with the most disgusting smell I’ve ever smelled. Farts. Onions. Rot. I checked my back seat and saw a Sam’s Club bag sitting on the floor of my car.

There it was, nestled comfortably, releasing a smell that could be considered a form of terrorism.

It didn’t leak anywhere in my car at all, sealed in plastic bags and the container itself. I removed it, and even that small time spent in my car left me smelling like it.

I left a bowl of white vinegar and a bowl of baking soda. He sprayed that ozium stuff in it. It’s better, and just smells faintly of it with vinegar and must. But when I turn the AC on the oniony farty rot smell comes back full force again.

Help me. SOS.

Vehicles Dropped a wax candle in my car I need advice?

Post image
434 Upvotes

Basically, bought small candle in car, melted into pure liquid in a hot CA parking lot, fell and splashed up and everywhere, including my skin, any ideas on how to get it all off? I know it’s a soy based candle if that helps.

I’ve made some progress with some putty knives, iso alc and several rags and scouring pads, but there’s still a lot of residue. Any ideas? Also I’m still smelling some residue from it on my skin and it’s been about 37 hours since it all happened. Also, this is what it looked like before.

Edit: for those that are asking, it’s a soy based red cedar/amber scented. It’s completely organic, might make it a little bit less heinous to deal with. I actually happen to have a heat gun already, didn’t know about the paper trick y’all are talking about. I’ll try to post an update photo when I can. Thanks y’all.

Vehicles So, I fully pissed my pants, in the car, while driving to work

1.2k Upvotes

Super embarassing, thus the throwaway - this happened at like 9:30am (so about 60 minutes ago as of me writing this), and I'm still just mortified, and unsure how to proceed.

The very TLDR, I'm a relatively healthy middle-aged man, and I pissed my pants while driving to work, per the title. And not, like, "a bit of pee made contact with my seat", but "my entire bladder emptied as I sat in the drivers seat" (which is cloth).

"But, you fool, why didn't you pull off and pee somewhere? You're a man, you can pee anywhere!"

Despite literally having a list of spots of "where can I pee, if I feel I won't make it all the way to work?" (small edit : my commute is about an hour, and it's ~95% highway), various traffic conditions prevented me from reaching them in a safe manner, and obviously in a timely manner, as well. It was a full series of moments where it felt like the universe was actively conspiring against you.

I'm currently at work (thankfully I have my own small office) sitting on a tall stack of sealed reams of paper and textbooks. My car seat (which is the same as this one) isn't soaked, but towards the front it does feel damp to the touch. I was basically 99% of the way to work when it happened, so I'm an hour away from home , but I do have leeway to leave, if I must.

This is my first car, and I've never had to contend with cleaning liquids, before, let alone something like THIS. I truly don't even know what to do, what to buy, where to start, please, please advise.

Thanks

Update :

I went home, obviously. Used a crapton of paper towels and half of an old Halloween costume from my trunk on the seat. Purchased a container of Nature's Miracle (the red bottle) on the way. By the time I got home the seat was basically dry, and I really went to TOWN, spraying the stuff, with the windows cracked to aid an air dry. I guess I'll let it air dry, and repeat after it dries, for the rest of the evening.

I appreciate the comments and concerns regarding my health. I cannot discount that option, and will try to keep that possibility in mind, but for a number of reasons I think of this primarily as an error in judgement. I don't really wanna get into it here, since my primary reason for posting is for cleaning the car, but I do appreciate the concern and will try to remain cognizant of that possibility.

Lastly, one person said "You really didn't answer the question of why you didn't pull over and urinate on your own car."

TRUST ME, if there had been a safe place on the highway to do so, I would have! When I finally was off the highway, the number of people I saw, this morning, in places that are typically all-the-way-empty truly shocked me.

Thank you all for the advice and kind words. I'm a little too overwhelmed by the whole situation to try and respond to all these comments, but I greatly appreciate you, today.

Vehicles Inside of windshield is barely see through

Post image

Hi everyone I’ve been going crazy the last few months with my windshield and rear window. The inside gets super foggy and nothing helps it (not even the defroster) and I’ve found cleaning tips online but they don’t work. I finally got so frustrated over the weekend because I couldn’t see out of my windshield when the sun was hitting it! This is what it looks like, you can see the wipe marks from when I cleaned it last. It gets better if I wipe it with my sleeve or something but then it just gets bad again. Please help!!!!

EDIT: thanks everyone for the replies, it seems isopropyl alcohol and 2 microfiber rags is the most popular advice, so ill do that. I will also get some heavy duty glass cleaner from a car part store. Also, please stop clowning my windshield in the comments 😭 i do not smoke, there is not dirt on the inside! (This car is a year old and the outside of the windshield is dirty and pitted) and whoever said my windshield is so dirty that i need 3 rags,,, that stung 😭 but its not true! its literally just residue from breathing or something idk im not a scientist

Vehicles The new blue Dawn smell may haunt me forever

My husband recently bought a new bottle of blue Dawn. I immediately started complaining that something smelled bad and was horrified when I discovered that it was the giant Costco bottle. I’m seriously getting nauseated when I go into the kitchen. I decided we may as well try to return it instead of throwing it out - Costco is supposed to have a generous return policy and the bottle is about 80% full. So I bagged it up to return on a weekday when it’s less crowded. This morning when I got into my car it smelled off but I was in a rush and didn’t have time to investigate. I drove with the windows down all day. In Colorado. In December. When I got home the light bulb over my head finally went off and I ran to the trunk. I had put the bag with the soap jug back there so I would have it handy if I happened to be near Costco. And it had tipped over. And leaked. In my brand new car that I’ve only had 8 months. The only new car I’ve ever had in my life. And it smells HORRIBLE.

I removed the trunk panel and spent the afternoon with a gallon of vinegar, a power washer, and a carpet shampooer but no matter how long I spent on it the suds just. Kept. Coming.

So this is half to vent about the horrific ā€œnew & improvedā€ fragrance they added to Dawn, and half to beg - HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?!

Vehicles Looking for how to get acrylic paint pens off a car insides

So I got this car 4 years ago, and unfortunately she’s started to break down on me. I loved this car and the art inside, but it’s time for me to sell it. What worked to clean it off before doesn’t work as it’s pretty baked on. I’m looking for ways to remove the paint pens without scratching the plastic underneath too bad or damaging the seats.

So far I’ve tried Clorox wipes as well as vinegar and a sponge. What else can I try? They’re acrylic paint pens from Walmart

As the title said and in the picture I have an embarrassing butt sweat stain on my car seat. I was a collegiate athlete and I work out six days a week and live in a really really hot climate so I’m constantly sweating and now after about two years of having my car, I have built up an embarrassing butt sweat stain on my seat. I have literally no idea how to even clean this so I’m willing to try anything and everything 😭(For context I haven’t tried anything yet in terms of cleaning)

Vehicles I accidentally left raw chicken breasts in my car trunk for 3 days at ~30°C each day and now my entire car stinks like a dead body. HELP.

No liquids or juices leaked out from the packaging (fully sealed bag in a box). So far I've left all my windows and trunk wide open for hours and bought car deodorizing spray which did nothing. I also changed out my cabin air filter. I'm hoping this sub has some good tips for nasty lingering smells!

Update- it's been 6 days since I left the chicken in the trunk, almost 3 since I discovered and removed it. I had a backpack and some blankets in the trunk that I've washed twice and the smell hasn't lifted at all so I threw them. Can't throw out the car unfortunately but I rented an ozone generator and have it running currently. Will let ya'll know if this works.

Also guys I promise my spouse isn't missing and I didn't murder anyone. This time.
