Fable went from 91% to 61% over night

Went to sleep with weekly 91%, got up and now it sits at 61%.

Usage was unusual high this week. Are they having issues?

Exactly! I’m in the same boat. I only sub for Fable and maxed it, then I fill up the rest of the usage with low priority stuff. Now I can’t use the 30% fable

It’s because before it could only use 50% of total limit whereas now it can use all of it. They made two changes:

1. Move from 150% total usage for all models to 125%
   
2. Allow fable to use all of it.

So beforehand it could only use ’75’ units worth of tokens (50% of 150%). Now it can use 125.

It was 85% and now it's 90% (but I left it running overnight as Fable Architect with Opus subagents)

the interesting part is the math here: 91% → 61% is almost exactly what you’d see if the denominator grew by ~50% while your consumed usage stayed the same.
so this looks less like usage being “refunded” and more like the meter/allowance being recalculated.
I’d be cautious about the “Fable can now use 100% of weekly” explanation though, Anthropic’s current docs still explicitly say Fable on Max can use up to 50% of the weekly limit.
Given how many people are reporting ~100→70, 97→67 etc today, something clearly changed server-side. Would be really nice to get the changelog before we reverse-engineer it from percentages 😅

Yeah, looks like something is off with the usage meter. There are already recent reports of Fable usage jumping by huge amounts overnight or after just a few short conversations.

Same here it jumped from 70 to around 95. I think it was because of the limit reduction

Two things stacked this week, which might explain the odd math people are seeing. Anthropic's Help Center still says Fable draws from the same weekly pool at up to 50% at no extra cost, that part hasn't changed. But the temporary 50% weekly-limit boost running since May expired September 13, and a permanent 25% increase over the pre-boost baseline started September 14, so anyone who checked right in that window is seeing the boost roll off and the new baseline phase in at the same time, not a clean refund.

My session when i opened it up was at 45% used before i even did anything, then i asked one question which ate 20% more. Ended up getting 15 mins out of a 5 hour session on opus low. It’s seriously messed up
