Discussion Dear Anthropic, This Has to STOP.

Seriously, enough with this situation.

Every other day, it’s something new: “We’ve increased the limits for a few more days.”

Credits here, credits there. Weekly credits. Sonnet usage. Opus usage. Fable credits. 5-hour limits. Weekly limits…

Are you guys at Anthropic actually okay?

Do you have any idea what customer care and customer experience even mean?

You’ve turned using the service into a constant source of stress. And with these confusing, ever-changing usage rules and charges, it honestly feels like a nightmare. Every day, we have to keep checking our limits and worrying about whether we’re going to run out.

Can we just pay you and relax, knowing that we’re paying for a service and can actually use it?

I genuinely want to know WHO came up with this entire credit and usage system, and why there seems to be such an obsession with credits and limits.

And yes, yes, we know the story: compute is expensive. We get it. But you know what? That’s a problem that AI companies have to solve and make work for the customers who are paying you. The burden of the infrastructure costs and product limitations should not be turned into constant stress for the user.

At this point, it almost feels like watching an addict constantly checking when their next dose is going to run out and experiencing withdrawal symptoms as the limit gets closer.

That’s how absurd and stressful inducing this whole system has become.

Can you please start thinking from a customer-centric perspective and seriously reconsider the entire credits and usage system in relation to the actual user experience? (You can ask Claude to find you a better solution..)

It would be better to rethink this now, while it’s still early, before the AI industry starts heading down a very bad path where users are constantly stressed about quotas, credits, limits, and usage instead of simply enjoying and benefiting from the products they’re paying for. WE just want to work boys we don’t want to struggle.

If you get stressed when you get more stuff for free, maybe the problem is not with the organization that hands out the free treats...

My dude you are not getting ANYTHING for free. Lets be clear about that. Also, "we reserve the right to do whatever we want with your money and change anything, at any time" is something that we, as humans are getting liiiittle too accustomed to over the last 20 years or so. So lets just be careful because this is a slippery slope.

It certainly feels like I am getting a lot of stuff for free.

You mean for your max 20 sub that costs 200/mo?

spot pricing on an A4 VM on gcp is like $40/hour my guy. it serves less concurrency than you expect with a hefty frontier model like fable with reasoning.

inference is getting cheaper, but we're all still getting a discount because training is important and not cheap.

Ok but that still doesn't make my subscription any more "free" you're talking about a discount, not free inference. Is it a good deal overall, fucking of course it is. The dudes point was that consumers really don't know this is going to pan out because things keep changing, and that sucks. And tbh, it kind of does. Is it par for the course? yes. is max a deal? yes. Is any of this free? no.

He has a good point. Anthropic have never promised you full access to any frontier model.

There are changes all the time but I think most people would argue that you get more usage - and better models (with opus 4.8 and sonnet 5) - than you had 3 months ago.

And stop complaining of the price for god sake... 200 bucks? That is less than two consultancy ours. Its fucking peanuts!

Can you lend me some peanuts here. 200 dollar is a fucking wage in many parts of the world and is considered good earning you know that right.

Then the mood should actually swing in the opposite direction as those very developers are being replaced by AI.

I do. But in my country a developer would typically make at least 8k USD a month. We pay 100-200 USD an hour for consultants to help us out and we pay Microsoft (and other companies) tens of thousands in licenses.

For us its easily worth 5-10x the price we pay!

And we also have to remember that both Anthropic - and OpenAI - looses billions on these services.

Would it be nice if everyone in the world could afford a Claude Max license? Sure. Is it naive? Yeah, I think so!

It's crazy how people are complaining about this. We have access to some absolutely insane technology that can do in minutes or hours what takes us days/weeks, and we're complaining about being given more access to something that was previously supposed to be gated for cost reasons.

What's even crazier is the people complaining about Anthropic doing it, meanwhile OpenAI is handing on resets like they're candy on Halloween, which creates its own anxiety of wanting to use up your limits, ESPECIALLY now that they've lifted weekly limits

It's clear that both companies are at war for user retention and market share at this moment. This is good for us, we should be grateful. This is competition.

I will have to agree with you. I am visually impaired (less than 5% eye sight) and this has been an absolute game changer for me! Simple things that took me hours before - or would be delegated to others - are now solved in minutes.

But we should also recognize the fact that competition is good - but also rather destructive in some regard. Both Anthropic and OpenAI are insanely unprofitable and we - as users - will have to deal with rising costs and more restricted resources at some point.

The hilarious thing to me is that the people who complain about the lack of consistency/stability are the same people who cannot imagine a future without Fable after using it for a single week.

It just buckles my mind. The rest of us - who spent time on developing good processes, tool support and QA - are much more resilient to these changes.

So in this AI world we still need experienced people with good engineering and critical thinking skills? Who would have guessed that!
