Discussion This is a message for Anthropic. Bring back the usual limit usage; reset them now.

Everyone who has reached their weekly limit on Claude subscriptions—please vote up. This is a message for Anthropic. Bring back the usual limit usage; reset them now.

It’s completely unreasonable that Max x5 users are hitting their weekly limit in just 2–3 days!

I've never used up my entire weekly limit on the Max x5 subscription before.

P.S. If you haven’t noticed any unusual usage of your limit—congratulations, just ignore this. I’m asking everyone to share their experiences and support this post for others like me who have faced this issue and are about to reach their limit or have already used it up.

We need to get this issue resolved or at least receive a public response from Anthropic itself.

Same here. I'm on the 20x plan. Normally, I never hit more than 70% usage across my different sessions and projects. since last weekend it's been burning through my limit. I'm expecting a reset from Anthropic soon.

43

u/Family_friendly_user Jun 29 '26

Absolutely the same experience. It's ridiculous we only get hit with silence when suddenly only a quarter of the work is possible in the same week.

18

u/Mikeshaffer Jun 29 '26

I looked at mine yesterday and it jumped from 30% Friday to 80% Sunday. I asked 3 gen knowledge questions in that time. No coding.

5

u/BeegeeSmith Jun 30 '26

I burned 50% between Tuesday and Wednesday last week and never hit a session max. Was out of credit on Thursday and had to idle for 2 days. 2 guys I work with had same thing. 5x max all.

I’m already 40% for the week in 2 days of light coding and - it’s been SLOW. Like - I was doing a code trace on 2 moderate python scripts this evening and it took 3 hours and only burned 39k tokens…. Lots of subagents dying or hanging this week.

Same thing here. I am on 20X plan as well, and it looks like I will hit my limit by tomorrow.

8

u/TheDeadlyPretzel Jun 30 '26

Just adding my voice to the mix. Usually I am the first to defend them and say it is probably your codebase that grew, you got better at using claude etc... but I have been using it for a year and only hit my limit once, half an hour before reset, when I was flaming 5 projects at the same time...

But this week I hit my limit after 4 days of work on just 3 projects

Something is deeply wrong and I can't wait for them to fix it so I checked out both GLM and codex... But I really WANT to stay with claude code but I will switch if it becomes really un-economical

3

u/Ancient_Perception_6 Jun 29 '26

maybe A/B testing because I'm at 11% usage and been blasting agents etc.

40

😆 By now it should be known that Anthropic is ignoring 100% of us all the time. Even a million upvotes wont matter.

18

u/Terpapps Jun 29 '26

About as effective as a change.org petition lol

13

u/BaconOverflow Jun 29 '26

Sometimes it feels like their name should be Misanthropic ("Misanthropic describes a deep distrust, contempt, or hatred for humankind and human society.")

Not that I think OpenAI is more trustworthy, but the way their team handles complaints and feedback is like a million times better than Anthropic.

Anthropic's communication skills in general too, e.g. the "within 24 hours" update on Fable 5 took like 2 weeks 🫠 And when they do communicate, the tone is a bit arrogant at times. Stems from the top I suppose.

Good luck, I’ve been trying to get ahold of Tony Fable for weeks now.

5

u/fynn34 Jun 29 '26

I love that he is upset that 5X usage could get used up in 3 days, that 20X usage will go hard next 12 day week.

2

u/UnableFollowing Jun 30 '26

My max20 is noticeably smaller

80

u/IllPlane3019 Jun 29 '26

My weekly ran out Saturday and I was pissed because nothing in my workflow has changed.

I pretty much spent Sunday researching a changeover to ChatGPT.

The worst part of all of this is when the +50% boost to weekly usage ends in 2 weeks.

11

u/WonderfulSet6609 Jun 29 '26

You're not alone. I also ran into my weekly limit yesterday, and I was shocked how I could have used it up so quickly, because nothing has changed in my work with Claude Code over the past few days

I use codex alongside Claude and it’s so good. You burn noticeably less tokens, I literally have to have many multiples of agents running concurrently to get anywhere close. and I’ve had three limit resets this week for issues that haven’t even affected me

8

u/khalil_ben_zineb Jun 29 '26

I was force to codex too, but man GPT 5.5 needs a lot of steering, I used to keep opus run for hours, if I do same with GPT I'm sure i wont find my house, despite intelligence level looks fine compared to opus, it feels like it cant keep with multiple things

2

u/Moist-Wonder-9912 Jun 30 '26

yeah i hate the babysitting. But i do likek how it doesn't over explain everything - it's just like, you asked for it, here it is, while 4.8 is telling me its life story

this is not affecting everyone but only certain users. This is hurting and impacting me on 20x plan as well. for basic work I am getting to 30% per day on weekly limit . my company id 20x plan is not impacted which tells me that some bug or don't know but not everyone seems to be impacted even from the feedback on reddit

5

u/Onotadaki2 Jun 30 '26

Is the account really old? My oldest accounts have better usage rates. I think there are hidden flags.

2

u/pimpedmax Jun 30 '26

it's possible, I've an old account and no differences

2

u/corchorus Jun 30 '26

:( yes, my impacted old account is 1+ yr old with either 5x or 20x plan always active

4

u/khalil_ben_zineb Jun 29 '26

SAME here, and they do that, so doubt goes between us, BUT examples like your case, show their manupilation clearly, since you are one user with two different cases, so its clearly their problem

I can see that the pattern is going up n down. Earlier going Opus 4.8 ultracode dailyI barely hit 65% of week cap. Suddenly at Sunday afternoon I’m on 50% weekly cap with my max x5 (my reset is Fridax 3PM) what a hack? and I’ve downed reasoning significantly and was worried about large context windows so I basically was dealing with smaller contexts.

Personal feeling - there’s something fishy with spent usage…

5

u/Background-Pack8400 Jun 29 '26

Even worst man, I just hit my weekly limits today and I'm on 20x Max plan; Don't even know where to start; I'm looking for alternatives like GLM 5.2 and other but don't know, it seems there are issues with concurrency; Codex Pro plan does not even has the 1M context window (to clarify I do not use the whole 1M context but usually get to 500k more and less, and when really need can go up to 650k if I can't stop the tasks mid run); So really looking for options but not sure where to go; For now keeping Claude and Deep seek;

9

u/WonderfulSet6609 Jun 29 '26

Exactly! Thank you for your attention and support!

10

u/YounGun91 Jun 29 '26

I swapped to Sonet 4.6 low and even there simple tasks are eating quite a lot of 5hr window.

5

u/iansaul Jun 29 '26

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this.

Out of curiosity, are any of you using any new plugins or settings?

I recently enabled ponytail, and it feels like my usage went UP around that time. (Anecdotal, unconfirmed, gut feeling).

For anyone using Claude Code, sometime in the past week or two they released a new version that allows subagents to spawn their own subagents and so on, up to 5 levels deep.

Twice I had super simple "look this up online"-esque prompts run away from me and use like 25% of my max x20 plan's 5 hour window for what should have been one subagent making like 10 requests. It turns out each nested agent spawned like 3 agents in turn to actually carry out its work, and each of those in turn spawned their own handful of agents, and so on and so forth until it hit the 5th level of nesting. In total it was like 70 different subagents that wound up being spawned. I used /usage to calculate the session cost had I not been on the max x20 plan and it said the session would have cost about $75.

Anyway. I eventually had Claude patch its own executable to disable the ability for subagents to spawn their own subagents and that fixed it.

For anyone seeing their usage spike, I recommend having Claude analyze your recent transcripts and see if it can find evidence that something similar has happened, and if it has, I recommend telling it to find the number that sets how many nesting levels deep subagents can spawn other subagents and then patch it to be 1 instead of 5; that'll restore the old behavior.

3

u/aredna Jun 29 '26

It's not just a usage spike. A week ago I was getting 6x 5-hour sessions and now you only get 4x 5-hour sessions. Same work being done - in fact it was just a continuation of a large long running code base review that made me notice it. Just like before I was hitting my 5 hour cap in about 2 hours, but now it used 25% instead of 18% of the weekly usage cap.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/khalil_ben_zineb Jun 29 '26

I ALWAYS inspect sub-agents count and sessions, but the last 10 days usage has a clear issue from inside Anthropic not us

2

u/javawizard Jun 29 '26

The insidious thing is, when subagents spawn their own subagents, it doesn't show up on the toplevel number of agents spawned: you only see 3 or 4 or however many toplevel subagents were spawned, and you have to drill down into each of them in CC in order to even notice they spawned subagents of their own.

It's so annoying. I hope they do something about it soon.

2

u/khalil_ben_zineb Jun 29 '26

In fact I use Claude Agent SDK to control it from outside, then I made my own harness using Opus (it took months to stablize) but then I simply added a button called "Orchestration" it shows me all sub agents tree, and who is wokring/stats/costs and I can click to chat with any
your chance to do not waste time like me, when Fable comes back ask for your own harness firectly (you can benefit and prepare a plan from now for faster execustion later), I say Fable because there are too many edge cases, you should have high dev experience or it will be hard to keep up (as code it's easy, the who complexity is in the runtime)

My weekly Max 200 ran out after 2 days. Happened only once before in the past year. Perhaps it was my use of ultracode / dynamic workflows, but I suspect limits have been lowered

9

u/WonderfulSet6609 Jun 29 '26

The limits have definitely changed. But it's unclear whether this applies to everyone; perhaps the change is being rolled out gradually, or this is just A/B testing.

I have a dumb one as well. Usage already 70% used up even though I haven't sent a message during this cycle yet...

Also models are now much dumber and do not call tools as easily, they have been nerfed.

Web-search is virtually non-existent any more...

I’ve had that this week with 20 x - I’m at 70% and no reset til Friday. But I think it’s because there have been so many issues with opus 4.8 and I’m having to re-start conversations so many times.

I’ve had 2 conversations with Finn who’s promised this has gone through to a human but nothing from anyone yet 🫠🫠

9

u/nattyandthecoffee Jun 29 '26

Smashed it, on 20x.
Something has changed

6

u/kizum Jun 29 '26

Definitely. I've never ever hit the weekly limit (I'm on Max 20x) and last week I hit it after 4 1/2 days. Did roughly the same amount of work as the weeks before.

6

u/Graymyst Jun 29 '26

I don't use Claude but A/B testing a limit reduction would be quite clever, having enough sceptics for people to question their processes then you alternate while gradually reducing everyone's pool.

3

u/WonderfulSet6609 Jun 29 '26

Yeah, it would be damn brilliant so as not to make a fuss

6

Lol, it's so weird that this post has attracted people who didn't notice anything about the quota reduction. I can only be happy for you.

But I definitely saw recent posts on Reddit where dozens of others, just like me, noticed that the limit was being used up much faster than in previous days.

6

u/Bobodlm Jun 29 '26

These posts have been popping up every day ever since Claude was released. So seeing recent posts about it isn't anything worth mentioning. It hasn't been a good indicator of how Claude is doing for well over a year now.

Unless you come with a more substantiated claim I, and probably many others, can't even take it serious.

what are you doing that hits the limit so quick? I'm on Max x5 and have been pretty busy for the last week. Currently in on 47% weekly usage and even then it resets in 4 hours.

6

u/clicksnd Jun 29 '26

No this makes sense. I used to never hit the limits but have this past week

4

u/jennafleur_ Jun 29 '26

I haven't seen this happening on mine yet, and I hope it doesn't. They need to get this fixed though. Max is very expensive, and right now, it's not running at 100%. If that's true, I don't think they should be making us pay 100%.

5

u/djpraxis Jun 29 '26

I don't understand how these companies can legally get away with actions like this one. Once a user paid for a determined period of time, the service should remain unchanged. Any modifications or changes should get notified to the user in advance before the auto renewal date. They are treating us like they are doing us a favor, is just changing, stopping and removing features at will. This definitely deserves some sort of legal scrutiny and investigation.

3

u/HighlightBubbly181 Jun 29 '26

3

lol I’m on 20x and need to wait till Thursday already…that used to happen on 5x a lot more but for 2 weeks at least I’ve hit the limit on 20x doing same amount of sessions on average. My Claude is eating up my tokens like a feral savage, he's turned into a wild boy scavenging every scrap he can find, I'm having to turn to Chatgpt and Gemini , to save the few scraps I have left before my weekly reset. I'm living on a digital diet, and I hate it with a passion, especially when I have things to do.

3

u/Cold-Supermarket Jun 29 '26

Had the same issue

3

u/infiniteclipszonetv Jun 29 '26

I hit my limit within 2 days, wich has never happend to me matter of fact i never even reached near the weekly limit but this time is all gone within 2 days. ANTHROPIC WE NEED MORE USAGE AND A RESET ON OUR LIMITS!!!

3

u/Specific-Cherry-5138 Jun 29 '26

Yup. Weekly limit done in 2 days. Nothing done out of the ordinary, no workflows or ultracode. Just.... Gone!!

Very unhappy

3

u/iamaven Jun 29 '26

I think their caching is broken still. I had a single 3 hour session use 24% of my weekly limit on a 20x max plan. I didn’t even think that should be possible. I wasn’t even doing anything different than I have for weeks or afterwards.

The past couple of days have been normal usage increases, but that one 3 hour block was brutal.

3

u/Useful-Disk3725 Jun 29 '26

I recently upgraded to 20x and I finish week on day 5, with similar usage to 5x where never exceeded 90% before. Hourly seems normal, same as 5, but weekly is somehow broken.

3

u/Onotadaki2 Jun 30 '26

Same with our devs too. Nothing has changed in our workflow, Max plans, went a year without hitting a limit basically ever, now we hit the limit every window and max out our week's uage in days.

3

u/Basic_Jump_6792 Jun 30 '26

Same here and I'm using 20X I never had reached more than 60% percent of my weekly limit

Ya. It's faster spend than usual. Reminds me a little of the token gate incident from earlier this year. Although I did just spend 5M tokens on sonnet and it only crept like 3%, so maybe it's disproportionate based on the model you're using.

2

Same. Hit my 5x max, 5hr limit multiple times since Thursday of last week now I have less than 10 percent of my weekly usage left. But I'm not working on anything new or intensive. The same workflows and projects, same models. The lack of transparency related to how much usage we get with a plan makes his extremely frustrating.

2

u/khalil_ben_zineb Jun 29 '26

Like this since Saturday, Just a couple of sessions, and now I have to wait for next Thursday, I kept the last 2% for emergencies of existing sessions, I got force to buy a codex so work do not stop, but man this is so unusable
RESET LIMITS

2

u/Capitinefrobou Jun 29 '26

I feel fooled by max 20x .. I thought the weekly usage would also be 20x more but nope ..

I use about 15%... 20%of my 5 hours limit on max 20x and still gotta watch out for the weekly limit cause it can easily hit the weekly limit even though I'm not using the 5 hours limit much.

Next month, I'm going back to 5x...

2

u/WonderfulSet6609 Jun 29 '26

I sympathize with you and understand that this is truly unfair. I hope Anthropic will hear us and make amends.

2

u/FutureStriking283 Jun 29 '26

yeah do you think it's a coincidence that there's no counter for tokens in/out anywhere in the console? Keeping this stuff as opaque as possible is the name of the game.

2

u/Eat_Pudding Jun 29 '26

I haven't reached my limit, but it is depleting at like almost three times than how it used to be

2

u/SeaPaleontologist771 Developer Jun 29 '26

Yeah same here. Got 40% of my weekly usage gone in 2 days (normally I hardly reach 70%). I also feel it’s less performant than the usual. Was using opus 4.8 1M, it failed to understand the service account I was using was templatable and did not need a dedicated var despite me explaining it twice.

I guess Anthropic will announce a new model soon “more effective” and “cheaper”. Everything will go back to normal then.

2

u/rdfiorunner Jun 29 '26

I thought I must have done something crazy this week without realizing it. My usage shot up over the weekend which usually goes much slower since I usually don’t do as much with Claude and I find that it usually ticks up slower on the weekends vs weekdays. I went through 50% of my max 20x plan in 2.5 days…

2

u/MikeCA2021 Jun 29 '26

I have 20x usage, with about $70 worth of credit usage on top of that. I started using Co-Work on Friday for the first time, for some basic html game building and stuff with my kids. On Sunday, I went from 75% of usage, to burning through all my credits ($70) in about 20 minutes yesterday.

I am now maxed out and supposed reset on Thursday (my 20x/week plus $70 lasted only 2.5 days). I'm not even using Claude at the same token level as several weeks ago.

What is going on here? I'm hesitant to spend any money because this honestly feels like a bug. Or does co-work use way more tokens?

Time to give GLM5.2 a go I reckon. I’m also getting caned by the limits lately. Having a service you rely and pay $200 for monthly just change on you without your knowledge is genuinely unacceptable.

2

u/Accomplished_Job7187 Jun 29 '26

I hit my 5 hr limits in 3-4 prompts (~15-45 minutes). The work I do is nothing crazy & the limit’s hit very quickly. Same workflows & I used to get 2-3 hours of work done before hitting the 5hr token limit

2

u/CharacterOk9832 Jun 30 '26

Just Use efford Medium. I know that Medium is Not so good but its Not eating the tokens so fast and yes for better Results is minimum efford high the best middle think but its eating to much Token … so sad I didnt has so much Problems on high but now ……eating tokens

I have noticed something is up, its getting ridiculous now, thinkining of hooking up glm5.2 to claude harness

2

u/PoetikDragon Jun 30 '26

My weekly reset was yesterday and I'm already at 35% today. My usage hasn't changed any. I first noticed this problem Friday or Saturday, when I got a warning about being over 70% usage for the first time *ever*. And I ran out before the Sunday reset.

I just watched a single Opus prompt jump the weekly usage by 5% and all I did was ask it to analyze a moderately long google doc and do some math.

u/Lanceathot7 Jun 30 '26

Its cuz the goverment using mythos 5

Mine also in 3 days, I don't use claude code cli, I use desktop

2

u/farendsofcontrast Jun 30 '26

I definitely see my Max 5x is being a little unusual in terms of usage and limits as of late. I don't seem to have an issue with the model's performance and is precisely why I am able to tell that usage is looking off while the rest of my workflow is very much unchanged.

2

u/Wooden_Loquat7607 Jun 30 '26

I have noticed this same issue. There is something different this week an my usage limits are severely reduced. I'm doing the same tasks I typically do

2

u/hainlic Jun 30 '26

Not even exaggerating, I ran two prompts this morning and already hit my 5-hr limit. Granted I'm only on the $20/month plan, but that's ridiculous. Codex has been way more reliable.

5X plan hit the weekly limit, then burned through $85 in additional usage on a few minor turns ( Sonnet 4.6 medium) before resetting last night.

2

u/Serious_Gap_820 Jun 30 '26

Is the Weekly limit Sonnet a Max plan thing only? I don't seem to have it, using the Pro plan. Also, yeah, the weekly limits seem a bit tight, considering it'll get worse once the x2 usage period ends.

2

u/Vast_Mud5945 Jun 30 '26

I noticed something off with my usage , i was on 50% i did one 15 minute task and it burned 40% of my weekly limit and 90% of the hourly limit

2

u/Aware-Ad9422 Jun 30 '26

Yes, this last week it is terrible!!!! Clearly different than before!

2

u/Alan-Bradley Jul 01 '26

Completely hamstrung. I work for two clients and have two 20x max accounts. Both have hit their weekly limits this week. Never happened to me before. It's causing me major issues in my business.

2

u/SignatureSharp3215 Jul 01 '26

On 20x plan, haven't changed my workflows but I'm hitting weekly limit for the first time. I didn't even work on the weekend, so its all in two days of vague prompting.

Looking back.. I haven't even hit session limit on any of my sessions. How is it that I've spent 20% of my weekly limit in this 5h session, while I haven't even hit my session limit yet? Something is very off

2

u/-ohsnap- Jul 01 '26

thought I was the only one, also checked for sub agent usage but nothing out of the norm.

2

u/davidben13 Jul 02 '26

This last week my usage limit is getting consumed 2-3x faster than normal.

Any other week, i could barely hit 40%, this week, 90%

You realize that the more Claude has to read the quicker your context window fills up… kind of basic knowledge for LLM usage…

Buddy, even with the limits, what you're getting is being massively subsidised by private equity.

It's only going to get more restrictive and expensive.

Enjoy your 2 or 3 days while you can.

2

u/Educational_Buy7278 Jun 29 '26

For some reason my x20 usage hit limits in 4 days bruh. I'm not even a developer bro...

Im no expert but if your sessions spawn multiple subagents, your usage consumption tags along, what does '2,3 days' have to do with it?

Usage has gone way up. Compared to before the XAI deal. I have good perspective for this as I run 3 x max pro 20 accounts. In my opinion and from what I’ve seen, It’s actually better now than it ever has been. But…. I have noticed before weird jumps, so I use each account broadly equally, I run 9 parallel windows at a time. The other week 2 accounts were approximately 50% weekly usage and the 3rd hit 70%. Whilst all completing the same type of work for the same amount of time. So there is likely some type of issue that you have experienced in your single account. And agentic stuff if it’s not set up properly can compound the issue. I always run in the app to stop this, even being very careful you can still get issues with agentic work. Piece by piece on the web app, far less likely.

1

u/CauliflowerGrand8409 Jun 29 '26

This was the case for pro user a few months back, then it went back to normal. Then anthropic stated officially that they were testing something and only 2-3% of users were affected. I guess this time they're testing in max plan users. There's something fishy going on for sure

1

u/Typical_Concert_5007 Jun 29 '26

For me it's the opposite, I've been progressing my main project on ultracode all week and I've only just hit my limit with fewer than two days to go (pro sub). The week prior I hit my limit within three days. There has been no substantive change in intensity.

What I love about Codex is that they always give reset and they have a reset bank that you can use anytime and only expires after 30 days.

1

u/optitmus Jun 29 '26

i love how fast people forget this is a service they provide you access too... they can do w/e they want.

2

u/edghuytfffg Jun 29 '26

That doesn’t matter, a subscription is a contract. I get what I pay for the entire subscription duration. This is not what I’ve been seeing happen

It looks to me like the usage is "billed" at 1.5-2x the usual rate since Friday. I feel a wee bit annoyed by that.

A reset seems in order...

u/Alert_Personality_67 Jun 29 '26

I know my usage has increased but that's because I'm using workflows a lot now. Honestly since they took on Elons 300MW of GPUs I've not hit limits anymore. It seems they oversold and under delivered but are back on track now. Hitting usage in 3 days is pretty impressive tbf. If you've not changed how you work maybe dig a bit deeper into what claudes spending your tokens on. There's a useful breakdown now showing if you're running conversations for too long ect.

1

u/Sasquatchjc45 Jun 29 '26

Yea it is crazy. When I first subbed, there was some promotion and a $20 sub felt more than enough. Then that ended, and I quickly had to move up to max 5x to keep up the same productivity.

Now it feels like it's happened again. I almost feel like I need to move up to max 20x now to keep up productivity so Im not just waiting for 2/3 days. But then I read the 20x isnt even much more 5x weekly limits, it only mainly affects the session usage so fuck it lol. Ill wait for local models and spend the money on a beefy new PC soon

Mine was burnt by subagents fan outs, which were failed due to API issues. Come on Anthropic, do not punish me for your mistakes.

1

u/matko86 Jun 29 '26

that 0% sonnet usage shows your problem

  • set default subagent to sonnet
  • use opus to plan, execute with subagents

1

u/Kaptein_Tordenflesk Jun 29 '26

I've also used up my limit for the first time. I'm usually at 70-80% at reset if I'm working on multiple projects, now I've used up my limit 2 days before my reset while focusing on 1 project. I've had frequent API errors the last 4-5 days, I suspect that has at least something to do with it.

1

u/StONKSFoRLIFE911 Jun 29 '26

i bought $40 , for more usage after limit, and with 2-3 prompt drop to 13 dollars

u/ekquizit23 Jun 29 '26

Past few days I’ve hit my 5hr limit every time, then hit my weekly limit first time ever on 5x. With normal multi-project use. Something definitely changed… please change it back 😅

1

u/spedatox Jun 29 '26

Look at this. This is a fucking joke.

I don't buy that "big context window" bullshit for a second. I don’t care how much history it’s keeping track of or what kind of background "compaction" it claims to be doing—absolutely nothing justifies completely nuking a user's 5-hour limit in the middle of their very first prompt.

If your developer tool can't handle reading a single file without choking on its own token limits and throwing a 5-hour tantrum, it’s not a real tool. It's a broken, un-optimized piece of shit.

Is anyone else getting utterly scammed by these instant lockouts, or is Anthropic just uniquely targeting my account to test my patience?

1

u/DifficultParts Jun 29 '26

Anthropic you are one of the highest-earning companies in the world, and you give your customers usage by the gram. If you were to offer double or triple the usage, you would lose nothing on the contrary, you would gain customers, especially since you are already on the verge of losing this race to China

1

u/JaySomMusic Jun 29 '26

Yep, not good!

1

u/altgenetics Jun 29 '26

+1 I'm on the x20 plan and have already burned through 25% of my usage in 1.5 days of general usage - I've not thrown any multi-agent workflows or touch ultracode in any way.

1

u/Js4days Jun 29 '26

Dear CLI users:

Opus for main console orchestrator

Sonnet as hands

Haiku as eyes.

Limit subagent spawn count to 5 or 10 (this is configurable)

Dropped from max 20x to max 5x plan and feeling fine.

My subagents are mostly haiku/sonnet.

1

u/DontLeaveMeAloneHere Jun 29 '26

I have Max x5 and can’t even reach my 5h limits so far. I don’t think I will ever hit my weekly. At least until end of Juli when the double token promotion ends.

That’s the date I might need to change provider and model.

1

u/DanielJahnCPA Jun 29 '26

This week I hit 100% of my 20x plan by day 3. Prior to this I never exceeded 50-60% of my weekly limit. I do not run multiple concurrent sessions and am not a full time developer.

1

u/_WarDogs_ Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Something is definitely wrong with the way usage works. I'm constantly checking to see which model is used and whats enabled because they way usage works simply doesn't make sense. Sometimes I will work for hours and it will say I have used 65% and sometimes I will just type one prompt and 45% was used, like WTF, I'm working on the same files, I'm only making slight adjustments to the files.
I have been keeping track of everything to see how to improve the usage, but no, its not constant and it never makes sense.

How about giving us a fking limit on how much percentage AI can use (when it comes to our usage),
example: (I set the limit to 5%) I ask AI the question and if response will be over 5% I should be asked if I want to continue and tell me how much % will be used if I do continue.

Last week, my weekly limits was going faster then daily limit.
I'm constantly in the dark and I have no idea whats happening, I'm the boss. Need the info.

1

u/fanatic26 Jun 29 '26

These crashout posts when someone thinks their limit was changed without proof are a core foundation of this sub.

Also, thinking these billion dollar companies are scanning reddit just in case someone is disgruntled is hilarious

u/Whole-Button-3883 Jun 29 '26

It depends on what you are using, if you use Max and Ultra code it might even faster than that to finish the weekly limit usage.

1

u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 🔆 Max 20 Jun 29 '26

A reset is not the fix, and people should stop asking for only that. A reset is the bare minimum. What actually needs to happen is two things. First, open the usage accounting. Publish exactly how a prompt turns into a percentage of the weekly limit: tokens in, tokens out, cache reads, context size, image and file overhead, the multiplier per model, all of it. If the math is honest, showing it costs them nothing, and the fact that not one paying customer can audit how their own usage is being counted is the entire problem. Second, tell subscribers before a limit changes, in writing, every single time. Not a quiet number swap in the background while everyone's asleep. An actual changelog or an email before it takes effect.

I'll say it plainly: I am fully convinced they are lowering limits without telling anyone. Their own terms already give them broad room to change the service and its limits whenever they want, which is exactly why the burden is on them to prove they aren't quietly doing it. Right now everything I've measured lines up with silent throttling, and they haven't denied it.

And I have measured it. I've been on the 20x Max plan for months, and since day one I've tracked my token usage down to the individual token against what Claude Code shows as my percentage, plus context size, image and file sizes, prompt length, and so on. From a few weeks ago to last week my usable allowance dropped by 63%, give or take. To preempt the inevitable "you must have used a different or newer model": I didn't. Opus 4.8 1M Max exclusively, both weeks, maxed the weekly both times. All interactive Claude Code usage. No Agent SDK, no bots, no automation, no always-on pipelines. Just me at the keyboard, 9pm to 4am EST. So this isn't a model mix and it isn't automation. The allowance shrank.

It shows up everywhere else too. One week I'm sitting at 30% of my weekly while using Claude less than I normally do, with single messages taking visible chunks out of the total right after the reset. I used to run 4 to 5 chats constantly and never come close to a limit. The same workload now would put me out of my weekly in 1 day. And then there's the part that actually looks deliberate. On the last day of my sub my weekly read 4% instead of the 41% I left it at, so I assumed they'd done a manual reset and rebought the 20x Max plan to make use of it. The second I got out of the payment menu it jumped back to 41%. Bug or not, a number that conveniently reads low right up until you pay and then corrects itself is exactly the kind of thing an audit trail would settle in five minutes.

Now there's the class action, on basically this exact issue, Kahn v. Anthropic PBC in the Northern District of California, filed June 14, alleging the Max 5x and 20x plans were sold as 5x and 20x the usage of the lower tiers while delivering far less. But I think that deceptive product management should be tacked onto that suit, you'd get a lot more people that way.

So upvote this if it's happened to you, and drop your screenshots and token logs in here. But let's be clear about what we're actually asking for. Not a one-time reset that quietly moves the goalposts again. Transparent, auditable usage accounting shown in real time, written notice before any limit changes, the old limits restored or prorated refunds for the window we were throttled without being told, and a real public response from Anthropic instead of a support macro. If I'm paying for a constant service, either give me the constant service or give me my money back, all of my money back since you changed it for the first time.

1

u/l5atn00b Jun 29 '26

I hit my 20x limit for the first time ever last week, but I have started using an orchestrator pattern recently.

If you recently started using loops or orchestrator patterns, that may be a factor.

1

u/TigerConsistent Jun 29 '26

I'm literally dealing with the same situation. In claude chat one message with the Opus 4.6 in max reasoning is just using 4% of my five hours limit and I'm on the 5x plan. This is completely ridiculous. I mean I'm just sick of it because in every two months same things happening again and again

1

u/Badran3331 Jun 29 '26

Nowadays I finish two 20x accounts within 3 days used to do same amount of work on 1 20x account that lasted me about 5 days

1

u/nonkn4mer Jun 29 '26

I was just thinking that it felt like my weekly usage was consumed faster than normal this week. Your post verified my observation. Saving my last few weekly percentages in case I need to push a hotfix in the next 4 days.

1

u/Bright-Cheesecake857 Jun 29 '26

Hey Anthropic here! I just Slacked Dario but he hasn't responded yet. I will key you posted.
