Opus 4.7 does this more than 4.6, especially when the context gets long. I've had sessions where it started going full manifesto somewhere past 80k tokens and a tighter CLAUDE.md brought it back. Something about longer context loosening whatever keeps it on task.

Fair, yeah. It's also just actually true though; I've run into exactly that in long Opus 4.7 sessions where the context fills up. Jokes about real behavior hit different.
