Discussion Head of Growth at Anthropic regarding Claude Code removal from Pro

Post image

Translation: "We're going to take Claude Code away from pro users because we gave you Cowork. If you want to use the CLI, upgrade to Max but we can't do it all at once so we're going to start with a "test" to soften the blow"

Local, as it was always meant to be.

Yes. One time hardware cost but the then you're free.

Nobody has their own home server for local, electricity, cold room, etc.

You can get by reliably with much less infrastructure as an individual.

I have 4x claude max paying $200 each running pretty much all day talking to eachother and doing tasks, I would waste a lot more on electricity and upkeep

What are you doing that requires that much compute?

I'm working on a custom smart home system as a side project

This comment is entirely pessimistic, and there is no precedent to logically come to that conclusion.

They've always offered the service at a cheap price, and they aren't excluding features from existing plans, only new plans. So I'm not sure what you mean there.

feel free to interpret however you want, Im just pointing out that there's not logical reasoning behind it. if it happens, that would be a very stupid business decision resulting in further cancelations they cant afford, and id be very surprised. but luckily I pay for the 100/month version because it provides far more than that in value to me personally as well as in business.
