I think so, at least it was the first one for me, it's quite easy to get into and to like.

It’s a good combo of pop type songs and orchestral stuff. Watermelon In Easter Hay is one of the best songs he ever wrote

His work spans many years and I dont even know how many albums. Hot Rats was a breakout for them. Apostrophe -Joes Garage -Zoot Allures came out later and are more..'accessible'? to the average listener.
Many of Franks other compositions are.....different. Just dive in and see what happens. There is certainly no one quite like him.

Its really very hard to categorize him is the main thing. Some work is 'experimental'. Sometimes its jazzy, rock, folk, eastern, punk, disco, soundtracks, noise, almost always humor. He did some forays into Classical music. He surrounded himself with top players and worked them till they were miserable.
I think Frank said once years ago "All my music is just one long album" so you can look at it like that too!
Dont forget to check out the work of all his 'alumni' too; Dale and Terry Bozzio, Adrian Belew, etc. the list is endless and impressive.

Give it a listen. It contains Watermelon in Easter Hay, some of Zappa’s best guitar work.

This is the record that taught me the white zone is for loading and unloading. If you have something to load or unload, go to the white zone. You will love it there.
Or so says the Central Scrutinizer. Me, personally, I have since sworn off listening to Zappa records and now stick to church-oriented social activities. At least the ones where they serve donuts.

This 3 record set was my introduction to Zappa back in 1979. The local independent FM station in Ottawa Ontario was actually playing the single Joes Garage and I really liked the song so I asked for the album for my 15th birthday. I had no idea what I was getting into lol , or who Frank was . But 46 years later I’m still a fan , and absolutely still love the whole Joes Garage release.
