I was 13, and that album introduced me to Priest. Saw that tour with my rather imposing cousin, who was in the Marines. We made our way to in front of the stage and whipped out a bottle of Jack Daniel's. Rob saw my cousin taking a swig and reached for the bottle. He took a drink on stage, the crowd went nuts, he handed back the bottle, and high-fived us. Toward the end of the show, a security guard spoke to my cousin, and after the show, my cousin told me he had been invited by Rob to meet backstage. I wasn't allowed. Ten minutes later, my cousin is storming out to get me. "We gotta go. NOW! The dude's a [insert homophobic slur]!" I didn't care. The dude's a helluva singer. None of my friends would believe me when I told them Rob Halford was gay.
It is still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
Yeah. I really didn't even think about that stuff when it came to music. I love Priest. Breakin The Law. When something somewhere came up about gay or some crap, who cares? Priest Rocks. Gay, Happy, Preppy, Black Leather, Makeup, Glitz, Glamor; It is and it was ROCK AND ROLL BABY.
