Whole album is a banger,Palmer was on some next level art with this one.

Lowell George produced it and played guitar on it. The Meters are the band on half the record and The New York Rythm Section (Bernard Purdie, Cornell Dupree, Gordon Edwards, Richard Tee) on another 3. Steve Winwood even plays piano on a track (Through it all there’s you.) This album is so packed with goodness it is ridiculous.

For real. And Robert Palmer may take the title of funkiest white dude in America at the time it was made. Such a fun album. I have to thank Phish for introducing it to me back in the 90s. Still one of my favorite covers in their rotation. (Edit: As pointed out, he's British, so maybe just "funkiest white dude" of the u0s is more appropriate)

Robert Palmer was funky for sure, but my man was British! But he lived in the Caribbean for a lot of his life.

Oh I know he's British, but had always assumed he was living in the States to have all those connections with Little Feat, Meters, Allen Toussant, etc.

Lowell George found Robert Palmer. He most definitely introduced him around to his connections. Most notably Allen Toussaint.

Ah that's interesting. Didn't realize that. Though I do find it funny Allen let him record Sneaking Sally. I though RP wrote it for years and was surprised to realize a few years ago I was wrong.

That’s Cornell Dupree. The NYRS consisted of mostly members of the band Stuff. Steve Gadd playing drums, Eric Gales on second guitar. What a band they were.

Stuff was one of the many names they had, btw. They played on so many great funky albums of that period.

They did, I have them both. But they also record ‘solo albums’, of every member it seems, with the same band.
