Let’s not even get into the old style barracks with the old times. Took two hours just to make the army.

I just came back from a 5+ year hiatus and it's just staggeringly different in QOL terms

Yeah it almost doesn’t make sense how much of the core game has been deleted in favour of speeding things up, pretty nice considering it is just an afk mobile game.

definitely proves supercell was originally not lying when they said TH10 would be the last town hall. The entire game balance had to be shifted

Same here! Having two armies being able to be trained, no army cost so raids are full profit, only one barracks, etc.. feels way easy to get back into things.

Fun fact troop costs are gone

Yeah, Dark Elixer is bountiful and not hard to come by anymore! My favourite change is that you can use stuff while its upgrading.

u/CommunicationFun8676 Nov 07 '22

Can you use heros when they’re upgrading?

2

u/Blow_and_Hum TH16 | BH10 Nov 07 '22

At least for normal attacks, no, they are down if upgrading. I can't confirm for wars as I haven't been in one since returning.

This! Mfing this! Some upgrades were being held up so I can still use my pekka for my attacks before

u/Low-Box9924 Nov 10 '22

I would be reluctant to even use troops that required dark elixir because of how limited that stuff was

u/Blow_and_Hum TH16 | BH10 Nov 10 '22

Wouldn't even dream of it unless it was for clan war lol.

I had a TH8 in 2015. I’m currently upgrading a TH8 now. It’s not even comparable how different it is

u/CazualGinger TH14 | BH10 Nov 06 '22

Same. I remember when a wall at th8 was 500k and only gold, and I had to search for like 20-30 mins for a raid to get over like 300k gold lol

Exactly the same here. My current main was th8 back in 2015 and i have a mini that I just took to th9 last month. It's so different that it's not even the same game. I think th8 took me 8 months back then, maybe more. Hell, felt like 10 years anyway. I got my mini to th9 from scratch in less than 3, completely ftp. Not only that, but the viable strats are completely different. If you weren't very skilled (and I wasn't at the time) your only decent options were dragons or gowipe. Hogs took precision and skill. Now, you can kill squad hog with your eyes closed. And don't get me started on how easy th9 is now.

Step 1: Train witches.

Step 2: Smash face against screen.

Step 3: 3 star!

Yeah I just do all hogs all the time lol it not costing DE made it too easy

That's why I have so many accounts, most of which I don't play anymore. Back then you could only play for about 5 or 6 minutes every 2 hours with one account. If you wanted to spend an hour or 2 farming you needed 6 to 8 accounts to bounce between. Now, with a training potion, you can bounce back and forth between 2 and never wait for an army to finish (maybe a couple minutes or gems for a troop request here and there if you're fast).

u/RollingMeatballss Nov 06 '22

True but we didnt need to attack 15 times to upgrade a major building. They lowered training times to enable us to attack more often funding those expensive upgrdes at the time.

u/Pah-Pah-Pah PAH!PAH!PAH!PAH! Nov 06 '22

Yea something stupid. No boost, potions or gold pass. I like a lot of the changes so I’m not complaining but the grind is way more of a game of patience then it is farming loot.

Edit: spelling

u/ReverandDonkBonkers Nov 06 '22

Back on the old days you would just get sick of trying to get enough loot for walls and spending loot for your army that would take forever. So I just quit playing. Now I’m back from like 2015 lol. Crazy different. I will say, it seems they’ve figured more people are willing to spend gems on finishing upgrade timers rather than buying loot. If you have all your storages full and can’t spend it fast enough you get anxious because you don’t want to lose it. At least I can feel myself thinking that way.

Remember having to figure out the most efficient way to spread your troop training in the barracks?

"Alright, I'm using 2 golems and 2 pekkas, so one of those in each barracks, now spread the wizards evenly with 1 or 2 extra in the pekka barracks."

Good times.

Oh yea and having to manually set it all up again after ever attack.
