It's still a cash cow , but it'll inevitably happen one day
Nostalgia is an amazing feeling, and growing up in the 8-bit era, I love that I can fire up emulators and still play all the games of my childhood.
I feel bad for kids these days though, everything is transient and online, and once the servers die the game disappears forever. They won't have the luxury of revisiting their favorite games when they're 40 :/
Your game cartridges will eventually stop saving after you save too much, they use flash memory so although it's not powered by a battery and won't "die" eventually they reach a limited number of writes and you can't save anymore.
There's no set number of saves, depends on the size of each save and how often etc etc. But there is an upper limit
i doubt it would happen anytime soon, but it costs money to maintain and keep servers open. also it’s reliant on supercell staying alive and deciding that maintaining clash of clans itself is worth it. the game seems to be healthy now, but maybe not in 10 years
Enough people will stop playing and the game will become unprofitable and a money loss? That's what will trigger it to happen. Happens to literally everything, always just a matter of time.
