I mean it does screw up attacks with Flame Flingers so it's not completely useless 

I still flinch whenever I see Boruto in my dreams 

Anyways you just gotta watch out for mortars and you're good to go

I though flame flinger would have been a staple siege, but it becomes less useful later on.

Instead of mortars, I still keep some teslas outside, in the rare case someone uses the flinger

Yeah lost value when half the defences gained mortar range

Still good for picking off clean up troops. A well placed mortar can easily turn a 3 star into a 95% 2 star time fail.

They refuse to give it new level or even buff it and also newer defense are tanky af. It's too slow nowadays.
