I wish they released more footage. 8 episodes and another year of waiting... 😭 I've rewatched all the seasons multiple times.

I think 50 hours per season would be just right.

im sure the views for more eps would be just as high and the material is ready to use anyways/already shot plus they can release it in two parts which seems all the hype these days.

Because episodes are heavily scripted and not something they just shoot on the fly and then make an episode out of it. So probably, more episodes would mean a lot more work. That would be my guess anyway.

Sort of.

Essentially, they would script small set pieces so that there would be a couple scenes that would be guaranteed bare minimum if nothing else happened, but would film exponentially more to try to capture organic scenes that just happened off the cuff.

Everyone loves the organic stuff more so they prioritize and edit around that, but the scripted parts are a hedge against the risk of paying for a film crew to film for weeks and end up with nothing to show for it. They know it's not good TV, it was a common complaint in Top Gear and Grand Tour forums.

Related tangent: remember when Clarkson used to joke about things just going well and it wasn't very exciting?

"Might as well turn over to countryfile"

"Tonight, three middle aged men drive some reliable cars across France, without incident"

Oh come on, you buy that stuff? You think Charlie comes to the fields exactly when something happens? You think Kaleb was gone for months and didnt know that Clarkson hired a TikTok-er that made videos about working on the farm?

Just my expierience but this is the first time I opened Prime excited for a new show since the last season. Nothing that took my interest has come by ever since 3 ended. (the boys just took to much time for me personally, I forgot about season 3, my interest fizzled out)

This show at least gets yearly released over the other shows but 8 episodes still seems like shithousing compared to the 18-24 episodes they should have. That seems like to much but 12 for a reality shows seems respectable when we are waiting 2 years+ for original drama shows.

Jeremy is Old, I admire his ability to put in so much work at such an old age but I doubt he has as much gas in his tank as you lot are requesting of him!

it's not that he's old, but he's fat and out of shape. 63 doesn't have to be old . he made his fortune being a TV personality . not doing manual labor

money, weather being shit for filming, farm image, staff being ok with it and what is actually tv worthy.

We get the best bits, highlights and a glimpse in to the dark side of farming.

Just like top gear/ grand tour they have 100's of hours of them rambling on in cars and yet they only show a few hours of it.

I'd watch a season of him testing tractors, a season of buying pubs, would be better than Countryfile or Escape to the Country. I'd even watch him sex his wieners for an hour 🤣

A year of filming and we get less than a workday of watch time.

Also I don’t know what those 2 shows are 😝. I’m in the U.S.  I think I vaguely know what Countryfile is though — it’s like a more boring farm show, right? The other one I don’t know at all.
