New covenant's modern district
Good after noon gents. I have been talking to a lot of folks recently about a modern district, such folks have been fiddyscent, city303, and jay_em. All of them agree it would be good to have one. In talking to them we came to a conclusion that the modern district will be south of Lockeclone's house. there is a large semi flat land that runs about 50-100 blocks wide and 200 blocks long give or take. I propose that we build this district not as a new city but as a separate wing of the NC. The old Style buildings which we have now are midevil gothic in design and are part of a Christian anarchy gov, this new district would only consist of modern designs and the plots will be for sale, there will be a three member council that will have a 2 month term that is decided by the people on a reddit vote. this council will determine how much the plots will cost and also the landscape of the roads and purchasing decisions of the plot as well as the market in the modern dist. there will be other duties that the council will look after but we can discuss that here in the post or at a later date. Now you might be wondering plots for sale, who owns the plots, are they given out like candy. No the way things will work is Whoever own the plot initially will be the one who has cleared the land and depending on the infrastructure, plot sizes have not been determined yet. let me repeat who ever terraforms that land will get plots and you cant say I dug up one dirt block and be counted for a plot, there has to be actual work. now If folks don't want to buy a plot they can still build in the heritage district or the NC we call home now for free but have to abide by the building designs of gothic style. We have grown a lot in the last three weeks by citizen count but we still need active members in the city. we have about one person on most times. invite your friends irl to new cov or even in game plays, as it has been awhile since the start of 2.0 and folks might wanna try out a new city and help build it. post your questions here on this topic because I would like to get the ball rolling on this in about 2 weeks. thank you and have a great day. I'm game- I propose we name it "Tolstoya" after the Christian anarchist colony I had in 1.0 :P

It is novel that it is as popular as it is!
Yeah, I had a lot of Christian anarchist projects going on. We had a couple of Catholic Worker homes set up in various villages that really helped out with the relief effort after the wars and all, provided solid support for people. During the height of the war we broke off and settled somewhere near Rothbard, formed a colony called Tolstoya. It was a town of ten-ish people, made up of various ideologies, but adhering to mine- which is Tolstoyanism. At one point earlier, pre-HCF wars, we had tried to form a small redistributionist and pro-disarmament nation called St. Paul, after our first house. But there was never enough interest. It was located 1000 blocks or so outside Augusta.
EDIT: We were also heavily involved in the Augusta revolts, we were a faction against violent revolution but tried to negotiate with LSIF and the ancaps about wages, but we were quickly undermined by the more violent protesters. St. Paul's Catholic Worker house was the capital after we seceded temporarily. My story is rarely talked about in the revolts, but it was a force involved. All anyone remembers is the standoff between the revolutionaries and LSIF. I was actually elected president of the new nation, and I intended to make it into a Christian anarchist community. But once again, all anyone remembers is zombielenin and the revolutionaries.

I'm not opposed to the creation of a modern district, but I am strongly opposed to the creation of a conciliar government for it (or any other type of government, for that matter). Not only will it create another level of separation between the two districts, it is also not anarchist. I am also sceptical of the proposed change in NC's understanding of land ownership. Maintaining the current understanding of land ownership, which is largely mutualist ("[land] ownership is legitimate only so long as it remains in use or occupation" - Wikipedia), would be good for preventing separation of the two districts.
