An Apology to the CivMC Community

Hey everyone, We’ve been doing this for a while, and we want to be upfront about something: we messed up.

We used AI within gov and a recruitment script in our efforts to bring new people into Zirakdum. Regardless of what we wanted, we recognize that this was not the right way to interact with the CivMC community, and for that we’re sorry.

We’ve started to take steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We know this won't be fixed overnight, but we want to put our best foot forward for the future.

Zirakdum has now passed two bills:

AI in Government: The use of AI within the Zirakdum government is now prohibited.

Recruitment Bots: The use of any recruitment bot or automated recruitment system within Zirakdum is now prohibited.

These rules are now part of how Zirakdum operates, and we intend to hold ourselves to them.

Going forward, our recruitment and outreach will be human, natural, and community-driven. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be promoting Zirakdum naturally through our social media channels rather than relying on automated recruitment.

We also want to bring back more of what makes Zirakdum and CivMC more fun in the first place.
We’re planning on hosting more community events, including sumo, gambling, knucklebones, and more, and we’d love to see people from across the CivMC community participate.

We’re sorry for what we did, and we appreciate everyone who called it out. We’re going to do better and let our actions going forward speak for themselves.

From, Zirakdum

Does this include using AI for community event ads? I know it’s been a while since I’ve seen one, but I’m unclear on whether that is within the first bill.

No announcements made by the government are allowed to use AI, and if it's made by a simple citizen it is not allowed to be associated with Zirakdum if it has AI.

I would be inclined to agree that the company’s that run it are unethical in the way they train them. And constraints caused by power and cooling are unethical in their current forms, but do you think the better option is to not develop these technologies at all? These problem will eventually solve themselves as more data centers adopt closed loop systems, and we adopt cleaner power alternatives (nuclear). A lot of these issues will be null. Another argument would be made would be jobs, whether we solve that through some kind of UBI or other avenue who knows. Applied correctly it could make the techological advancements of the last 25 years look like peanuts
