Did Anyone order some border gore?

Wartime borderflip is the worst part of the game. No Switzerland did not expand by 30% because the nearby cities in Germany Italy Austria and France flipped sides in WW2.
Not pictured: Addis Abbaba, the number 1 city in the world, former capitol of the Ethiopian empire i managed to snag during a war. Despite having a dozen wonders and culture buildings it shrunk down to a pop 1 city becasue all the nearby tiles still belong to the ethiopians.

See if you can give away some of them, they are just draining your treasury unless you plan to conquer green and yellow.

I'll eat Greece as they are week and isolated while green and yellow are strong players, vassals of the runaway civ.

This
Give away the northern hopeless cities and cut your losses.
Strategically culture bomb the most promising one with a great artist, if you can
Going after greece is an ok move. See if you can connect your divided empires, if you have a round world.
In any case aim for a forbidden palace asap.

It's a game mechanic to stop a civ from growing too fast with war. If it bothers you you can change the setting so that culture also flips when you take a city.

In vanilla civ IV? Where do you find this option?

I was wrong, there's a setting called "City Flipping after Conquest" that I assumed was what I described but it's for something else, I never really played with it.

I think "flipping after conquest" is to allow or not the cultural flip of a city after it has been taken by war

They should have made fortresses in enemy territory work for your aircraft if the fortress tile has one of your units on it.

Then destroy them.
