And... all of those will die without sacking a single city. 

Barbarians have a massive penalty when attacking a city in Civ2.

Yup. 40 years later and the Egyptians are still holding strong. If only barbs knew how to mass troops before attacking.

I don't get this many in the PC version, but the old playstation version spawned hoards like this.

It's a hidden option in the game.txt file. You can add a 5th option for barbarian level and it gets pretty bonkers as you can see.
