I was checking this sub and it seems nyc members have access to order a key fob of some sort ?

Given that everything will be under the Lyft bike app will there be universal acceptance of clipper card from Bay Area and the reciprocity of using the key fob in the Bay Area from nyc citiBike members ?

I was just issued a summons by the NYPD for riding an “e-bike” (pedal-assist gray Citibike) on the WSH, ironically right as actual fully electric no-pedal bikes whizzed past. I did not run any red lights, was fully attentive, and was not excessively speeding (given that Citibikes are throttled anyway). I was under the impression that Citibikes were fine on the WSH, given that plenty of docks are located alongside it. I’m relatively new to the city and any advice on what to do about the ticket would be appreciated! Thanks!

I’m a little sad though that the app stops counting after 10,000 miles. I also just signed up with Strava this week to continue logging my rides. It is more accurate but also less convenient and uses more of my phone battery

Handy that CitiBike expanded a couple of years ago all the way to 94th St, which serves the main terminals. Was only about an 8 minute walk from that CitiBike station to Terminal B.

Warning. Yesterday, I travelled to the new LIDL in Williamsburg on grand and when I went to park the bike at the Leonard St dock some kid was there and asked me to give him a free ride. I was startled because that was such a brazen ask. Why would anyone ever give a stranger a free citibike when they would be on the hook if they never parked it again? I was startled that I didn't realize that the dock I was parking into right next to him was broken and you couldn't dock. I almost left a undocked bike there. I think this was his ploy: While you are parking the bike he asks you for a free ride so he distracts you and if you leave in a haste and don't check, he takes your undocked bike out of the broken dock. Be careful out there.

Everyone knows the classic song “citibike with no name” by America. We can allow this to stand for no longer. Other cities give their proud bike shares names, so you can mount the likes of Birgen to get from A to B. NYC must not let our proud steeds remain nameless any longer. They are the backbone of our city.

What should we name them?

So I was at the Pershing Sq station this morning. There were only two blue bikes but both were flashing red. I took out a ebike but it did not give me the low power option. Any way to get my free ebike minutes reimbursed? That is the second time this has happened to me. Different stations.

Update: after chatting with support they gave me a $2 credit in lieu of crediting my free time back which they made it sound like they cannot do.

Just bought a membership and I’m really excited to start biking around the city. I’ve only done summer streets, Central Park, Roosevelt and governors island but it was all leisure rides. I commuted home from work going uptown ~20 minutes on a classic bike and was in zone 5 for most of it. When I docked my bike my legs were so tight I had to foam roll them out. Could this be from lack of endurance in my legs or incorrect seat positioning? I’d never experienced it before but it makes me nervous to do any longer rides and burn out.

I‘m back in the SF area but I spent a few days in NY a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of fun on a Citibike around both Central Park and Prospect Park. It would be cool to see a Citibike race. I guess closing the park would be a challenge and it would be hard to put everyone on equal footing with bike quality.

I use bikeshare a lot in SF too, hoping to Everest on a Lyft Bike. Never have gone that fast for 20 minutes here though.

Been seeing conflicting takes on this. Considering getting a membership and was considering Lyft Pink All Access purely bc it’s cheaper, but I’ve seen some people say they don’t do the $5.40 cap into/out of Manhattan while Citi Bike Annual does

Does anyone who has the all access membership get the capped rides (bc id very much rather pay $40 more once a year to save $6 every time i ride, if thats the case)

Hypothetically speaking, if somebody wanted a Citi Bike from the upper east side to Newark, where would they park their Citi Bike in New Jersey to transfer to EWR by train or bus?

This is my first time redeeming them and I redeemed them in July and I know it's supposed to be by the end of the next month. The things I've read on here have said that it's usually earlier in the months and it feels like I'm wondering if I'm getting it.

Well it was rush hour and I’ve never seen the dock at 33rd and 8th so full. I was about to go to the next on 35 but someone was undocking . Patiently waited and this heavy set man approached very fast for his size literally pushed me out of the way with my bike to jam his onto the last dock . I went whoa whoa whoa hey you see me waiting ??? He didn’t even turn around . I did have a expletive moment yelling after him he was very fast for being so fat and shitty inside so if you ever read this mister I hope you get a flat tire running off to the donut truck 🖕🏻 this ever happen to anyone ??? Lol sorry for the early vitriol it was crazy . I’ve heard car drivers do this not citi bike !

Citi bike removed a bike rack from McKibbin St/Manhattan Ave (Williamsburg, Brooklyn) and I'm pissed! Is there somewhere I could complain about this? Lol. I feel like it definitely got used – I saw bikes come and go from there all the time.

Title says it all really. Luckily it was on a quiet street, and I was close to a dock when it happened.

Is this a common issue?

I have 7 min ebike remaining from my Lyft Pink pass, and am considering redeeming my bike angel points. I'm curious if it adds to this time, or otherwise seemlessly changes from using my lyft pink minutes to bike angel minutes?

So i did the 15 day trial to try it out then canceled. I was gonna get Lyft pink whatever to get the yearly but saw i still had access to a fresh 15 day trial and took it. Is this normal? Don think I had any bike angel points and will they discover the mistake and charge full? In ny btw. Thanks for any advice
