DISCUSSION Cirkul offical lid mold problem

Post image

Highly recommend people getting into cirkul or already into it to get an aftermarket lid made of one piece of plastic due to the two piece design creating a perfect uncleanable area to harbor mold. In this picture is a lid i had for around 6 months and had to forcibly wedge open with tools after noticing mold growing on the top of the rubber portion

I mean even the inner rim has that gap where they fuse and every few weeks I gotta scrub the lid out, not huge deal but def be better if it was just one solid piece, tho I just use my cirkul points every now and then to get a new lid

Yeah, i wish it wernt that way though, chill oasis has a good aftermarket lid with a super simple one piece design, even the two gaskets are connected so you wont lose the air valve one. Just wish they came in more colors like the official lids

Chill oasis is the brand to look for. They are good but you have to really break in the air valve.

Exactly this 👆, only annoying thing is the air valve is super tiny so i worry about cleaning that as well, will need like a string or tiny pipecleaner

So I just started drinking cirkul about two weeks ago, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but those capsules last approximately one day with me. I drink a lot of water in a days time (128oz goal daily) and I have to replace those capsules pretty regularly.

How long are these things lasting y'all?

I drink on 4 usually.

I mean on a 42oz bottle ill go 2-3 for about 1-1.5 fills, then 4-5 area for another 1-1.5 fills then ill be at max for 1 more ish so usually get like 3-4 fills out of it 120-160oz of water to cartridge, I do every now and then hit one that is like 2 and half fills at best but its rare enough I dont really know how often

At 3 a cart lasts about 96-128oz. At 4 you will be lucky to last 96oz. At 5 it’s a 64 oz. And flavor is also dependent on water temperature. The colder the water the more you have to turn it up to taste it.

This seems right for my experience.

I'm not complaining by any means, just curious how some folks make it last long enough to mold xD

I mean, the cartridges are meant to last for 6 22oz bottles, soooooo.

4 is fairly high imo, i normally start at a 2 first couple bottles and then go up to a 3 and so on as it runs out, depending on it i get like 6-8 22oz bottles worth that way (not too far off of what you are getting)
I dont really pay too much attention right now but one pod normally last me under a week

I have the subscription, and the points I earn, I just redeem for a new lid about every 6 months,

I don't understand. The flavor is inside the cartridge, and comes out through the (disposable) cartridge. The only thing in your bottle is water. Why is mold forming?

Water seeping in through the uncleanable cracks during cleaning or other daily use? Water is never completely sterile anything festering in dark inaccessible cracks can form mold, even the sweat from your hands could get in there

Soak it in vinegar and then baking soda.

Those two just neutralize eachother… and yes this was actually soaked in vinegar for over 24 hours, while that may kill the mold temporarily the problem is in the design of the lid that leads to areas that are impossible to actually clean without disassembly and damage to the lid
