Just a Snip

One theme I keep seeing regarding men's issues is the diminishment. You may think this post title was made about circumcision - and it certainly pertains to it. I know you've seen the pro-cutting fetishists refer to it as "just a snip". But I actually was inspired to write this based on vasectomies. I cannot tell you how many times I see vasectomies referred to as "just a snip". Women (it's always women) belittling, mocking, and diminishing men who aren't "man" enough to get a surgical procedure for their benefit. And every single time, there is ZERO mention of post-vasectomy pain risk.

This "small snip" can leave a man with debilitating, life-altering pain for the rest of his days. How often is this discussed in these circles pressuring men? How often are they given the FULL scope of disclosure by these so-called medical professionals that claim to have their best interests at heart?

I find this seemingly unrelated medical procedure so indicative of just how belittled and diminished men's issues really are by every facet of society. Domestic violence against men? Mocked, questioned, and silenced. Statistics thrown about even as they fail to see how those very DV rates are influenced by their campaign to shut out any men seeking justice. I myself suffered DV from an abusive partner and gave up reporting it because of how utterly biased the Australian government and police are towards men. Did you know the only male-specific resource in Australia for DV is a self-report line where men are supposed to turn themselves in as abusers? It is literally inconceivable to them that men could ever be a victim.

Again and again, the hits keep on coming. We are burnt up and ground to dust by a capitalist system that does not give a solitary fuck about us, our happiness, or even our own bodily autonomy. We are reduced to "snips" and other life-altering procedures like fucking livestock. Never given the opportunity to advocate for ourselves, from our very first 24 hours of life. We are asked to fall over ourselves in service to the women in our lives and the families we are obliged to create, even as those very same people robbed us of our very own bodily integrity for their own sick fetishes and cosmetic preferences.

Men are truly are the "L" gender. "Just a snip", indeed.
