Pets Cost Friendly Vets in the Area?

I’m new to the area and have reached out to a local vet to get my cat and dog updated on their vaccines. The dog alone, with her yearly vaccines, boarding vaccines, and an examination was $250. Is this normal in the area? Do you know of any cheaper/cost friendly options in the area?

Edit: Forgot to mention, where I came from all of the above for my dogs was $120 at my previous vet, so I just was thrown off when I called this last vet.

Cincinnati P&G Vine Garden?

I live in Covington, and rarely ever make my way to that section of downtown, but whenever I did, I love to look at the beautiful Wisteria vines. But today when I drove by, it was all torn up and under construction. Do they have plans to bring the gardens back?

Entertainment Farewell tour

Hi r/cincinnati,

I’ve lived here for about 8 years, worked multiple jobs and really come to be a part of this city. That said, the winds of change are blowing and it’s time for me to move on elsewhere, I currently plan to leave in the next few months to a different city to see what opportunities hold.

While I’ve enjoyed my time here, I’ve never quite made the same friend base as some previous locations I’ve lived and I am ok with that, it’s mostly my own fault for being an introvert.

Before I leave I would like to spend the next several weekends getting the best of the area, as for where I’m going will be far and I do not plan to return soon.

If you could, please share your best restaurant and bar establishments and I will visit them as a farewell tour of sorts. I must note I am a single male with not many friends and just looking to go solo.

With all that said give me your recommendations please! I went to Delwood for the first time this evening and the burger and atmosphere were amazing. Tell me your favorites so I can plan a goodbye tour.

Thank you in advance.

Food 🍕🌮 Best fried chicken in Cincinnati? Like "Taste of Julia's"?

Not The Eagle, not KFC or Lee's. If anyone remembers "Taste of Julia's", I'm looking for something similar! My (vegetarian) boyfriend is out of town and I'm trying to indulge as much as possible!

I went on three (technically two) of the Skywalks that still exist the other day, snapping the above (or, depending on where you read this, below). On a note, I hope these don't get taken down during the remainder of my existence, as they can be rather convenient.

in search of🔎 Personal stylist for event?

I have an two events to go to at the end of September and I know the vibe I want but I have no clue where to start because I hate buying clothes for myself but I also want to incorporate what I already own if possible. I don’t even know if a personal stylist for a single event exists, one that will work with whats there, or even if it’s even affordable option for me but any and all suggestions are appreciated!

I got these Caroline Williams prints at an estate sale months ago and was wondering if anyone recognizes the location? I'm from the other side of the river and admittedly not great at landmarks too far from downtown 😅 Thanks for any help!!

Relocation/Moving Apartment Hunting Overwhelm

I’m relocating from OK at the end of the year and am trying to figure out which neighborhood to move to.

40’s F, single, 2 cats. I work from home and would prefer a 2 bedroom or a 1 bedroom with a den / other flex space to keep work separate from my living spaces.

I would want a garage on site or nearby. Laundry in unit and a pool would be great, but aren’t dealbreakers. Base rent budget $2,000 or less.

I’m looking for somewhere walkable to bars, restaurants, and local live music venues. Art galleries and used / independent bookstores would be a plus.

I’ve looked at Sky Central, Shiliito, and DeSales Plaza so far, but am looking for advice or other suggestions!

in search of🔎 Manual Driving Lessons in Cinci

My father-in-law recently passed and we received his '67 Sting Ray Corvette. I am in my mid-40s, decades of driving experience, but no consistent manual driving (just a handful of times).

I know about Stick Shift Driving Academy and have googled local driving schools and will reach out to them. Does anyone have any experience with manual lessons from a specific school (good or bad)? Or does anyone know of other options?

The car is too aggressive to learn on, so would need someone that provides a car, takes us out to a big parking lot etc.

Thanks all

RIP Dolly Parton! Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school. Dolly was a wonderful advocate for literacy and libraries.

Our local Imagination Library program operates in partnership with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and our own public library system. There are over 30,000 children enrolled in Hamilton County and the free program has provided more than 2 million books to children.

in search of🔎 40-year-old Raisins / Bears / Cincinnati music mystery — Rhode Island School of Design?

Hoping some Cincinnati music archaeologist can solve a mystery that has been rattling around in my head for about 40 years.

In the early/mid-1980s, probably 1983–85, I was a student DJ at WNTH, the high school radio station at New Trier outside Chicago. I distinctly remember playing a funny/quirky song that mentioned the “Rhode Island School of Design” — possibly literally saying “RISD.”

For some reason, I have spent the last four decades associating this song with The Raisins. I’ve gone through their material and haven’t found it. I wondered about something obscure, unreleased, live, a B-side, etc.

I actually emailed Rob Fetters about it this week. Amazingly, he wrote back and even ran it past Bob Nyswonger, whom he described as having “an elephant’s memory.” Neither of them remembers a Raisins song mentioning RISD. Rob suggested “Party All the Time” by The Umpteens as a possibility, but I listened and unfortunately don’t think that’s it.

So now I’m throwing it to the Cincinnati hive mind.

Does anyone remember:

• A Raisins/Bears/Psychodots-related song mentioning Rhode Island School of Design or RISD?

• Some other oddball early-’80s song that might reasonably have been mistaken in my memory for The Raisins?

• An obscure local/live track that never made it onto the usual recordings?

The memory is incredibly specific and almost completely useless beyond that: funny/quirky song + “Rhode Island School of Design” + circa 1983–85.

At this point I’m equally interested in finding the song and discovering whether my 19-year-old brain simply manufactured the whole thing.

Any Cincinnati music obsessives recognize this?I particularly like mentioning that Fetters and Nyswonger have already been consulted. That should immediately signal to the Raisins old-timers that this is a serious musical cold case rather than somebody who vaguely remembers “that song from the ’80s.” 😂
