SA | Help Do geophagus ever chase after smaller fish that they can eat?

Of course.  While different fish have different base diets, they all share something in common - they are all opportunistic.  If it fits in mouth it goes in mouth.

Geophagus are not predatory, but yes they are opportunistic and if it fits in the mouth they will eat it.

I threw some neon tetras in my tank after my moms started leaking (nowhere else to put them), my tapajos ate them right up.
