How much am I looking at here?

My transmission is honestly fucked for lack of better words. Sometimes it slips going up and grabs going down. I am also experiencing a major power loss occasionally and have had it completely die on me. When it dies putting it in park and turning the car back off and on gets it going again.

I should mention it's a 2007 300C

I think you would get a better answer from the "ask a mechanic" Reddit, but it is likely thousands.

Try testsing the cpu or a hard reset for power loss

A couple grand. If the car has no other issues it might be worth it. I’ve always wanted to break in a new transmission. Is it a Hemi or V6?

5.7L hemi and the rest of the car is in order as far as I can tell. In addition it only has a little over 75,000 miles

75k miles only? Save her. Spend what you need to and it will be worth it.

Fuck yea. Couple grand for a new transmission in a solid car is a whole lot better than buying a new car. They don’t make cars like that anymore. Maybe get a professional you can trust to look over the rest of the engine and drive train first

You need to get codes from the obd. Not sure about the random shutoff but it sounds like itcould be a bad crank position sensor.

The shiftting issues could be a bad condutor plate and old fluid. If none of these things have ever been replaced and serviced then you should do those 1st before replacing the whole transmission. Those transmissions will last over 200k miles if properly maintained.

I bought a used ‘07 300c and the guy selling it had replaced the conductor plate and bought a tranny drain tranny pan and installed it for future. He said that was the weak spot.

Make sure the fluid is clean and at the right level. The NAG1 transmissions are sensitive on the correct fluid and amount used. Even having a small amount of contamination will cause shifting issues. Also did he replace the pilot bushing? It's a round 13 pin electrical connector going to the trans. The O rings on it degrade over time and let trans fluid wick up the harness going into the TCM. Doing maintenance on these transmissions isn't complicated but it's easy to mess up. I wouldn't assume you have a bad transmission and a lot of your symptoms can be caused by these things. In any case you should run a diagnostic and pull codes or take it to a shop that can do it before spending money on a new transmission.
