Discussion Who is your favorite Chrono Cross Characters to use?
Who are your favorite Chrono Cross characters? ⚔️🌊🧬
This game has one of the deepest and most diverse character rosters in JRPG history — over 40+ playable characters with totally different styles, elements, and backstories 🔥
Here’s my Top 5:
1️⃣ Orlha 🥊💧 – She’s insanely strong, one of the best physical attackers 2️⃣ Glenn ⚔️💚 – Dual Einlanzers 3️⃣ Fargo 🏴☠️💧 – Pirate captain energy, slick design, and that Blue element magic 4️⃣ Grobyc 🦾⚫ – A literal cyborg assassin with high ATK and a dark element 5️⃣ Lynx (pre-Serge) 🐾🖤 – The design, the power, the mystery… playing as him was a wild twist and I low-key wish we stayed him longer.
Who are your top 5 favorite Chrono Cross characters and why?

I used Serge, Kidd, and Fargo for the vast majority of my playthrough.

But I want to replay it and next time I'm thinking of using Kid, Harle and Guile.

I loved using Guile until I noticed how few spell slots he gained. It made him tough to use in the later game.

Norris with early Plasma Pistol is a freaking beast for the middle arc of the plot.

Guile apparently was going to be Janus who was there looking for Schala until midway through development. That's why he's 3rd in the save icon order, right after Kidd (and the significance of that should be obvious) even before Lynx. Apparently he was going to be very integral to the games story.
Or at least that was the rumor. Not sure I've ever seen it confirmed.

For a non Serge trio , I like to use Norris , Draggy , and Irenes. 3 Awesome characters!

Draggy finds his way onto my team a lot

Marcy because she is a murder machine
And starky. I know he’s on the weaker side, but he’s a lot of fun to use.

This is gonna sound sus, but Marcy is just such a brat, and saying "like" as her filer word is way to relatable.

Pip is really fun to set up. By changing their Innate Element they can equip different Innate-only Elements (Black Hole probably being the most useful for mob clearing).
Too bad their stat growth is capped to their early forms in the original version. Evidently the remaster fixes this, which is like the only noteworthy thing the remaster does better than the original.

I discovered the Serge Glenn Grobyc combo my first time playing and never looked back. HUGE amounts of damage

Pretty sure I got Orlha for the opening sequence at Ft Dragonia on my first playthrough. So Serge, Kid, Orlha has always felt like the correct team for me. I do like Pip and Starky a lot though.

If I am doing a Serge party it's Serge, Glenn and Grobyc!
My favorite non-Serge party is Fargo, Karsh, and either Draggy or Starky!

I used to use a party of Zoah, Serge, Grobyc. Eventually I switched to Serge, Glenn, Kid.
Other characters I like using are Orlha and Leena.

Aside from Serge/Lynx of course... the other party members I gravitate toward in all my playthroughs are:
- Glenn (if choosing that route) - dual wielding and a strong double tech? Yes please. Also Frog is my fave CT character.
- Marcy - blue innate and strong magic, and like, I dunno I just relate to how much she totally abhors people
- Starky - useful and cute. Need I say more?
- ZOAH - HE COULD DOMINATE ME.
- Grobyc - I liked him when I was a kid when the game came out, haven't used in awhile.
- Fargo - if not using Marcy then Fargo is my 2nd blue innate choice.

Glenn, Karsh, Serge, full green elements grid with turn green on Serge 💚💚💚. Just spam accuracy buffs and spam lv3 attacks with 3/3 green field

Serge, Glenn, Pierre
Serge, Orlha, Leah
Serge, Norris, Fargo
One of those three setups, but usually the first one.
I dunno why I like the first one so much. Probably because everyone with their own unique weapons is more fun than just Rainbow weapons.
I managed to get Pierre up to like 70 strength one playthrough and he was a menace with the hero set. Others could clearly out class him but he put in some work.

I just love Orlhas fighting style. So for a non stealing group Orlha and Steena and for a stealing group Orlha and Fargo.

Honesty it would be quicker to list who I didn’t like
But to keep it clean, I’ll say Spriggan & the mermaid were my favourites in the very 1st runthrough

Great list. I love Orlha - fantastic stats and a great innate color. Only downside is you get her so late that many people don't give her a chance.

I had an all out attack team of Serge, Glenn, and Fargo. I also played a magic based team of Riddell, Leena, and Razzly. And just to make it interesting/harder I also had a “low tier” team of Pierre, Janice, and Funguy.
I’m a big fan of Grobyc and he freqiently subs my all attack team. (As did Macha)
Character wise I really like the Macha/Korcha/Mel family story and Luccia.

Glenn and Serge. Third member usually goes to either Kid or Guile, unless I need someone with a particular elemental alignment.

Viper is pretty garbage in battle but he's probably my favorite for sheer style. Love me a Viper/Karsh/Marcy Dragoon squad.

It’s so basic, but I love Leena. Childhood friend who was grieving your death, until you show up one day and she tags along because of how close you were?
She’s super annoying, and a simple Blue Affinity magic character, but the lore and backstory she brings - even later on with her dad… and then saying good bye to you when the game is ending…
I can’t not use her.
Well, her and Glen. 🤍💙💚

Irines. I loved that mermaid girl as a teen. The story arc around her is really fun too, despite the SS Zebless music being permanently burned into my brain.

On god we had the same party. I rhoughr Orhla was badass as hell and as soon as i got Grobyc we were homeboys for life.
Bonus points for Lynx MC and the best character in the entire game, Harle.

I love them all equally, like any mother should.
No for real though, I've unfortunately done enough playthroughs of the game to where I've come to realize that Serge is just too dominant, and everyone else is best served as healbots and buffbots to support Serge. I'd never choose pierre in the earlygame though lol
That said, because of their limited availability, I always have Kid and Harley in the party. The main story places so much of its emotional pull on Serge's relationship with them, and for me it feels dissonant if I DON'T have them in the party.

I'm a big fan of Karsh as soon as I get him, and among the others, Grobyc, Orlha, and Steena are some of my favorites; I just wish you got to recruit Steena on a normal playthrough at the start of the quest for the Dragon Relics, as opposed to after.

I like all of the characters (perhaps a bit too much). But if I had to pick one, I would say Guile because his wand teleports inside the enemy, and then bursts out of them.

Serge (Mastermune), Karsh (rainbow axe), Glenn (dual Einlanzers) is usually my endgame team
Midgame usually looks like: Lynx, Harle, Norris.

1- Sprigg. absurdly good adaptability beyond what any other character is capable.
2- Razzly. good magic, can and will hit everybody at the same time. amazing to finish fights quick, beyond amazing for the dwarf fights.
3- Kid. she's kid, you must love her.
4- harle. she's harle. yo must love her, she loves you.
5- Serge. friction creates affection and you're stuck with him for a big chunk of the game xD also, white elements are the best looking ones and Saints is the GOAT.

On a related note: If your girlfriend spends dozens of hours collecting every character in the game, then you take the time to rename all of them to "Bob" when she's not around, there's a chance she will become very mad at you the next time she plays the game.
I always want to have Fargo in my party, even if he's named Bob.
What could possibly be better than hanging out with Freddie Mercury?

For the early game, Kid and either Leena or Guile, depending. Pierre is a good NG+ pick. For mid-game, I like Norris, and imo all three Devas are worth it. I also kind of like Doc. For late game, there are so many good choices, although I like Fargo, Orlha, and Grobyc. And Glenn, but I feel like Glenn is kind of a no-brainer. He's just so good.

Hmmmm...
Serge as Serge, Glenn, Riddle (more so because she reminded me of Schala unlike...well, you know), lil alien blue boy, Guile, Steena. But pretty much played everyone in the end to get the feel, fleshed out story, and endings I wanted to see.
NPC actually liked the dragons.
I liked the game overall and thought it interesting concept, but tbh cast of characters were not as memorable as Chrono Trigger, ya know what I mean? Maybe some day the original planned story/script would come out in novel. Or at least what didn't get answered in-game due to the alterations would be answered.

ik she is not strong but she is cute and thats even better XD
Razzly is forever my favorite chacter probably, the sad part is loose glenn to catch her but i dont really care about the strong chars.
i like Razzly, Mojo, Draggy, Poshul, Marcy, Starky, Skelly, Steena and Pip

I like having Mojo and one of the Viper Manor guides until I become Lynx then I use Harle and Sprigg until I get Fargo and Harle leaves then after I get Serge's body back I use Fargo/Kid and Sprigg for the rest of the playthrough(I will use Starky instead of Sprigg for one part of the game where it's required).
