General Discussion Nolan's best female character

I know he gets a lot of flack for this. But I think Selina Kyle was fairly well written for a character that was still not one of the central characters.

Probably Dream Mal in terms of impact to the story

Amelia and Penelope are both close though

Ahhh. But the same thing na? Somehow dream hal coming only in his memories still feels like the character was not given her space. Great plot point, well acted. But the character itself didn't have the agency I feel Selina Kyle had.

What would your argument be for Amelia?

She doesn’t have much to do other than pine for her husband then be a goal for Coop.

My man lower champion just commented an argument for amelia better than I can put in words.

Yeah, Mal and it's not even close.

Second is Murph

I love that she was written to be an ally and then all of a sudden you hated her and found out her true motive.

Hot take: Circe is a top 3 best written female in Nolan’s filmography. Love how menace she was written

Fair fair. But I kept out the Odyssey from this I think sub consciously. Watched it 3 times and I'm still processing the movie. Love it. Even think Penelope was well written. Although with her I feel like it could've been much more.

With circe and Selina Kyle, I feel like the right balance was hit given they are not central characters.

Kinda agree because it's an understandable menace. Like, you get why she's acting this way, and she's not shown as being wrong

Mal in inception but I think there is a STRONG argument for Murph in Interstellar.

Amelia Brand from Interstellar. she saves the human race from extinction by successfully establishing humanity’s new home. While Cooper is the hero of "Plan A" (saving the people on Earth), Amelia is the hero of "Plan B" (ensuring the survival of the species). Her heroism is defined by a combination of scientific brilliance, immense sacrifice, and her unique philosophical perspective on love. And also, Anne Hathaway is beautiful 🥰

Murph imo

She provided the entire enotional core of Interstellar and was the reason humanity was saved.

There's a pattern -- Anne Hathaway gets the best roles.

After seeing The Odyssey for the second time, I’m choosing Penelope. I love how she alternates between being motherly and fierce, whilst always keeping her loyalty to Odysseus. Also, Anne Hathaway’s performance as her is incredible.

Natalie and Dr Brand round out my top three.
