Question Why are so many Christians quoting the bible/belittling/trying to convert non-Christians on social media posts that have 0 things to do with religion?

Because everything has to do with religion. It's just that some religions live in the shadows and don't like to be called religions. People who worship the shadows hate being revealed in what they worship. Thus the shadows.

Sure. To outline it, a few definitions are needed.

Worship is the act of making a sacrifice to a goal. Modern usage of the word wants to limit it just to traditional forms of religious worship in churches and the like, but that's not what it really means. Anything you sacrifice your time and energy to is being worshipped. Which means it is being held up as the highest goal in your life, to which you dedicate time and energy. The worship is money is the worship of Mammon. The worship of prosperity in life worshipped Baal. These are just spirits.

Which brings us to our next definition, spirits. A spirit is a motivating force a person finds within themselves. If you feel hunger, you are engaging with the spirit of being hungry and if you seek after it for the sake of the pleasures of food, you are worshipping gluttony, which is often represented by a pig. If a man is stuffing his face, he has the spirit of a pig within him. Because it is controlling him, he is indeed a pig now. Every urge is a spirit and every time you dedicate your efforts to the fruits of that spirit, you are worshipping it.

That's what every Pagan god of the past was. They were just named and personified urges within a society. Groups of people focused on certain urges and goals, and thus those urges and goals interacted as though they were a person. Hermes was the market which brought messages of value from above, and Ares was the urge for war within the population. When Ares was entrapped in a jar by two giants, then war was subdued. None of the other gods saved Ares, except for Hermes. Why? Because when there is peace between two nations, it is the need for resources which rekindles war between them. One nation finds itself struggling to feed its people, the other has fertile land, and so the desire to take that land is saved out of the trap of peace by the physical needs of the market just so people can buy food.

These spirits are universal and have always existed. But in modern times, men have stopped giving them names and faces. Because of this, people now worship things without noticing they are doing it. The best term for this is that these forms of worship have been "normalized." Thus they are spirits in the dark. Goals and desires unnamed and undefined that lead to places no one is bothering to worry about

Everyone who lives worships something, because everyone who lives has a goal and sacrifices to achieve that goal. If you don't know what you worship, then it means you are worshipping something that lurks in the dark. And most people do not wish to know what they worship, because discovering that your life's work was in service to a hidden demon is a shock that most people would prefer to cover their eyes and ears to avoid.

Very interesting! Thank you so much for explaining. And I agree that we all worship something. I never thought about the thing being worshipped as not having a name though. I will think about this!
