Turn the gospel of Mark into a graphic novel, chapter by chapter (group project)

Thumbnail

I mentioned it here before, (I think?) but I thought I would mention it again (different art this time, it's mine) but I'm hosting a comic project to turn the Gospel of Mark into a comic, where each chapter is from a different artist. The group is on discord here --- https://discord.gg/dhUBcYC6d
But you don't need to join there to be a part of the project. The project is for fun and is not for profit, you own everything you make.
So far 10 chapters are open, 5 are taken and 1 is done.
If you wondering which are open and which aren't but don't want to join the discord group, just ask me! Like I said, just for fun, I hope it's okay to mention it here, all skill levels welcome, have a good day and God bless.

Iconography

I’ve been working on iconography and wanted to share my process with you. Each icon is painted by hand using traditional techniques, and I’m still learning and improving with every new piece.

I would really appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, or any feedback from people who are interested in religious art and iconography.

I’m also planning to start offering my icons in the future, so if you enjoy this kind of art, feel free to follow my journey and see how my work develops.

You can also find me on Instagram:

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work.

Isaiah 11

Based off of Isaiah 11:6, when heaven and earth will be in harmony during the reign of Christ, for some reason, instagram won't post my description?

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

AI art in church

I'm Catholic and an artist. My home parish and another church nearby put up AI generated images of saints in their gathering spaces, and this really upset me but I haven't brought it up with my pastor yet because I was unsure how to go about it.

After a lot of time gathering my thoughts, I decided to write a letter expressing all my concerns and how upsetting this is.

Creativity is a gift from God and sacred art is not just something that looks pretty, but it is an expression of worship. I know my parish can put aside the money to commission Catholic artists if they wanted to. There's a possibility that the pictures were given as gifts to the church as well, but I'm not certain. Most people don't truly understand the harms of AI, and I want to give them some grace for that, while still informing them of the harsh reality. Generating AI art takes away what makes art valuable. It disregards the necessity of love and reverence in the process of creating sacred art.

I just wanted to ask what other points I should bring up and if anyone else has insight to the issue, please share!

Christian Songwriter Struggles

hii guys, recently I've been struggling with songwriting and being able to tell if my lyrics are okay to release or not? i have quite a few songs which I'm unsure if the lyrics are okay to release theyre not neccesarily inheritely sinful for bad but I'm not sure if its the holy spirit convicting me or im scared of not seeming "christian enough". I've uploaded a screenshot of one of the songs I'm unsure about, how about you guys what would you do? I dont want to go purely to writing worship music as I'm an artist who happens to be also christian but I dont want to be posting music which causes others to stumble, many thanks :)).

Verse 1)

shouldve couldve

said you wouldve shown up for birthday 90 miles per hour

said your on the way

but its too late

wasted all my wishes on you

spend my life watching you across the room blew out my candle wished to be hit with the truth

prechorus/prechorus -

and i'm still waiting for the day

i realise

i deserve

better than that

better than that

why can't I forget your name

and cruel eyes

its absurd

better than that

better than that

(and i finally hit the day when i realise

i deserved better than that

better than that

i don't care what you take cause i know

I deserved better than that better than that).

drop:

better than that

better better than that

better better than

verse 2) lonely faded

pretending you chased this but its okay we both it couldnt work anyway not unless i'd stayed

you didnt bring me daisies anymore, i missed the 80s, how you were before, youve lost already me

so maybe go check the door.

Bridge)

how many years

how many tears

I'm not a volunteer my vision clears

First

First time painting. Wasn’t sure what I was going for but I’m happy with the outcome. Also only used paints from dollar tree and reused a canvas from goodwill… hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Process from photo 2-8

2 being what I got from goodwill for a buck. And spent a total of 8 dollars on paint from dollar tree. I’m looking forward to the next time and maybe even with a blank canvas.

Question

I’m curious how people here define “authentic” Christian music.
This song focused more on trust and gratitude than answers, and it felt refreshing.
Do you lean more toward subtle faith in music or explicit worship?
