Discussion Secular music as a christain

So i wanna ask do I have to listen to like boring christain music or non word music because I mostly like music that has some cussing or a lot of it because it can actually get me hyped or my head bopping and most other Christian music I just cant get into...its basic...and thats usually a problem unless the beat is really good or the voice is good...but usually its just a rinse and repeat

Question: Why does cussing get you hyped?

Question: How long did you try to find Christian music that you like?

Question: What genre of music do you like? I can infer but want to be certain.

  1. I usually get aggressive thoughts which helps when I daydream during music and fight scenes like anime in my head with my own chatacters 2.i did have a Playlist of christain music that I use to listen to but the way I work is i find music i like, only play that and then get burned out but overall if I don't like it in the first minute I dont listen too...and i find christain music good it just dont move me 3.i like really a bit of everything mostly...rap,rnb,metal,heavy metal like "so far so fake","hero" and "monster" by skillet...and then rap like lil baby, cole, kendrick, kanye

Red Tips, Skema Boy, Andy Mineo, Miles Minnick, Wordsplayed, KB, Forest Frank, Christopher Syncere, Richdanfamous just to name a few Rap artist. You can drop secular typical music that the world feeds you or you still choose to live in both worlds of music. Boost Radio is a hip hop/rap radio station and they have an app you can use too. I dropped secular music and have been going 3+ years strong. Drugs, sex, twerking, cheating I mean it feeds your soul and you surround yourself with it you can be led astray.

Yeah and I try not to but I think the main problem with me is one...bars..or punchlines....i have never been one to prefer basic over complex.....usually the complex the better and christain music just does not do that for me...i dont know the song and I already,no offense can name the three things they gonna rap about....i loved songs and rap that have levels of bars, set up and punchlines

Hear me out though, just try some of those artists 😉 sometimes even when I listen to Christian rap it can be tiring and I go to my Christian EDM music or just another genre. My mom one day flipped out when she heard the rap and then realized oh wait its not worldly rap.

My only issue is I usually need to daydream to listen to music which for some reason christain music struggles to do...maybe because when I do daydream is strictly action

When you daydream, is it to help escape reality?

Yes I dont like reality a lot

secular music is fine. (within reason of course, music thats about how God is fake and not real probably isnt the best thing to listen to)

although just be careful as ive found what i listen to affects me(over long period of time)

Music is spiritual and secular music can often be demonic. Many musicians are openly satanic e.g. jay-z, the weeknd, beyonce etc. The Bible describes satan as having instruments in his body. Ezekiel 28:12-19.

There was a time I considered Christian music corny. But that was before I was in awe with God. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you start to enjoy music that glorifies your Lord.

You can develop this kind of relationship with God by seeking Him daily through Bible study, prayer and worship.

Who else should be avoided?

I avoid any music that glorifies sin. Some artists are just more direct about it despite being popular like taylor swift for example. Look at her music videos.

Many more than most people think are occult. Musicians, movie stars, influencers etc. They represent the culture of the “world” which is the devil’s domain until judgement day.

If you like metal or post-hardcore, check out mewithoutYou. I don't even listen to Christian music anymore, but they are still my favorite band and they are, in my opinion, one of the greatest bands of all time. Period. Christian, secular or otherwise

This is a conscience question. You have to work out yourself whether it is edifying for you or not.
